Ron Barceló, one of the most delicious Dominican rums—distilled from the naturally grown sugar-cane in the company’s fields—was envisioned by Julian Barceló. Julian was a Spanish emigrant born in Mallorca. He arrived in the country in 1929 and founded Barceló and CO. in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, in 1930. Ron Barceló became one of the most popular rums in the Dominican Republic in the 1980s. As the exports grew, the company started distribution outside of the Caribbean and America in 1992. In 1994, the brand started international ad campaigns, and soon, Ron Barceló was being exported in more than 10 countries. Spain had been the brand’s biggest consumer for years.

Check out some of the delicious cocktail recipes below, made with these fine rums from Ron Barceló, who produces different award-winning variants of the original rum that include:

Barcelo Imperial Onyx Single Modernist Rum

This is a blend of rums that are aged for 10 years in ex-bourbon barrels with a “heavy char” grade. This is filtered through onyx stones which give Barceló Imperial Onyx a mysticism that characterizes this rum of “unprecedented intensity.” It is uniquely different from other Dominican rums because it is made from the fermented juice of sugar cane and not from molasses. The result is a smoother, more well-rounded taste.

Barceló Anejo
