CBD, Cannabidiol, is a compound within the hemp plant that has relaxing and healing properties. Its origin is from the cannabis plant which also produces marijuana and various hemp products. For thousands of years, this plant has been used to help people who suffer from mental and physical illnesses. Today, there are a wide variety of strains and products from CBD hemp flower to CBD tincture. In this article, we will explain 5 facts about CBD that you should know before using CBD products.

Fact #1: If the hemp plant qualifies as CBD, it is legal but with limitations.

CBD was legalized in 2018 according to the Farm Bill passed by President Trump. In the bill, it says the sale and extraction of hemp can be legalized by federal law only if the plan contains no more than 0.3% of THC. THC, Tetrahydrocannabinol, is the key component in marijuana. Under federal law, anything that contains more than 0.3% of THC is classified as a Schedule 1 drug according to the Drug Enforcement Administration making it federally illegal.

Fact #2: CBD does not give you the same “high” feeling marijuana does. You can smoke a lot and still not get the same results.

This is one of the key differences between marijuana and CBD. Although as previously mentioned they come from the same plant, the extraction is different. For CBD to be CBD, 0.3% or less of THC must be within the plant because THC is primarily what gives the person that “high” feeling. If a person is looking for that, I would tell them to stop wasting their time and just go buy cannabis.

CBD has similar functions as cannabis but CBD does not cause any psychoactive hallucinations or makes the person have an out of body experience. What CBD does primarily is that it detects what inflammation or pain is occurring in the body and helps with the swelling. There are no to very minimal mental experiences since all of those properties are primarily in THC.

Fact #3: CBD products are safe.

CBD products have helped thousands of people who are dealing with issues that seem impossible to complete. Some of the symptoms that people experience include but not limited to be nausea, fatigue, irritability, muscle, and joint pains. There are many different ways to treat these symptoms by applying proper CBD products.

Fact #4: CBD can help with my mental illnesses.

So far, CBD has helped people who are struggling with anxiety. Anxiety is described as the body’s natural response to stress or a fear of what is to come. Since we do not control our future, people who don’t have control over their lives start to begin to feel desperate. CBD has been the answer to a lot of people who have faced anxiety and has helped the person calm even at their worst state.

Another mental illness that CBD has helped is for depression. Depression is when a person is characterized by a depressed mood for an extended period of time that begins to affect their daily life. Depression can affect any person at any age and it can be triggered by a number of things. This mental disease can affect sleeping patterns, appetite, energy level, concentration levels, and much more if the person doesn’t seek help or medication.

What CBD does is that it begins to alter the neural circuits occurring inside the brain that make a person feel depressed or having anxiety attacks. The CBD allows the muscles in the body and in the brain to finally relax and normalize the more the effects take place. Depending on the way you have taken the CBD, the effects should come instantly or within a few minutes.

Fact #5: There are multiple ways to try CBD and you are not limited to one option.

Yes! There are multiple ways to use CBD and all have their benefits and disadvantages. The most common ways to use CBD is by smoking the flower oil, eating an edible, or using CBD as a topical oil or cream. By smoking the flower, the effects are felt very quickly. The difference between using CBD flower and CBD vape juice or oils is due to the vape pens. Vape pens only accept vape juice or oils for their pens making the concentration higher than flower. By breathing the CBD into your lungs, the lungs circulate the smoke throughout your body and once the smoke is fully circulated, you begin to feel the effect.

Another way to use CBD is by eating an edible. An edible is considered an edible when there is a marijuana or CBD product inside the food item. You can add as much flower or CBD oil as you would like but since it is going through the digestive system, the CBD will take longer to kick into effect. Naturally, our body takes more time to digest food than for example, breathing in and out. This is why it takes more time but don’t be discouraged because the effects are felt the same and maybe even more than smoking!

Regardless of the way you would like to use CBD, CBD has proved to be a natural solution to mental and physical diseases. With medical remedies becoming more popular, medicinal treatments will be used more widely and become more widely accepted.
