On Sun., Sept. 19, Best Friends Animal Society is hosting its very first Strut Your Mutt event on the Santa Monica Pier. The event is offering many a service for those with beloved pooches, including yoga, massages and special treats, all suited for a dog.
Beginning with a mile-long walk at 8:30 a.m., the festival officially lasts from 9:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. The festival also have professionals on site to assist all dog lovers with their pets well-being, training and cleanliness.
These activities focus on dogs and are being held to raise awareness for those in shelters. Best Friends Animal Society’s Strut Your Mutt event will benefit organizations formed to also help these causes like animal rescue groups. Participants in the event will be raising funds for these organizations and can register and choose which specific group their fundraising efforts assist.

Best Friends trainers will be on hand to give tips and answer questions on behavior issues and training strategies and techniques, as well as give on-stage demonstrations.

Four-legged attendees can enjoy free food and treats from local doggie cafes, bakeries and food companies.

Participating dogs and their people can strike a pose and tap into their inner Dogi in this fitness area that will feature yoga and stretching, and leave your pooches wanting cat naps! Sponsored by Crunch Fitness.
Healthy Smiles

Learn more insight on your dog, as well as better communication skills, by chatting with our Pet Communicators.
Pups N’ Paws
Kids can celebrate their forever friendships with their dogs by making a PawPrint Painting that they can take home as a keepsake. New York only: kids can also participate in Best Friends’ “I Read to Animals” program, where kids can practice reading to shelter dogs, while learning best ways to interact with animals.
Main Stage
The event’s Main Stage will feature a variety of live music and family friendly programming, including games & contests, pet-themed entertainment and demonstrations.

This area will showcase Best Friends’ work and programs, and include information on how to get involved with the organization.
