Homerun King Mark McGuire finally comes clean on Steroid use

12-time All-Star Mark McGwire can finally sleep at night. After years, more than a decade to be exact, he has finally admitted that the use of steroids and human growth hormone helped make him the homerun king. He contacted the Associated Press to reveal this revelation.

A very emotional, McGwire broke down in tears and apologized as he admitted that he used the strength-enhancing substances off and on, starting before the 1990 season, including the year he broke Roger Maris’ is single-season homerun record in 1998.

Maguire stated, “I wish I had never touched steroids. It was foolish and it was a mistake.

He has stayed out of the spotlight since his infamous testimony before a congressional committee in March 2005. Back then, he stated, “I’m not here to talk about past”. He had been ridiculed for refusing to answer the questions put to him.

He had recently been hired by the Cardinals in October as their hitting coach, and he realize that he had to come clean before the start of spring training in February.

Before he rolled out his schedule of statements and interviewsm he contacted baseball Commissioner Bud Selig, St. Louis manager Tony LaRusso, and baseball great Roger Maris’ widow, Pat, to break the news personally to them. He also left messages for the stars of the Cardinals.

Says Maguire, “the toughest task in the whole ordeal was breaking the news to his son, Matt McGuire.

Mark McGwire’s record includes hitting 583 home runs, tied for eighth place on the career list, in his average of one every 10.6 at-bats is the best ever.
