Last Wednesday The Kress hosted the Love Cures Cancer charity event benefiting children with cancer through the J.T. Martell Foundation and the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles. Love Cures Cancer is a passionate charity working to finding a cure for cancer. Project Ethos and Illuminate Collective joined forces as event planners for the night. Project Ethos is known for merging fashion, music, and art, all in one event. Together they created an electrifying night at The Kress.
The event was star studded with celebrities showing their support for the cause. On the red carpet some of the celebs spotted were Samantha Droke, Dancer Karina Smirnoff and fiance Maksim Chmerkovskiy (DWTS), Brazilian model Camilla Alves and Zoe Meyers, Vanessa Born, Danny Trejo, Yuval David, Nadya Dawn, Dr. Shalini Grover, Dennis, Brendan Hawthorne, Camilla Alves, Ten Travis, Andrew St. John, Ryan Matsunaga, Jodi Fung, Kam Haskin, Kaya Jones, Robert Griffith, with wife Amethyst, Taylor Handley, Southland, Jill Michelle Melean, Matt Dragg, KO, Little C, Josh Donn, Carilyn Vail & Jodi Fung, Nick Menell, Aaron Yoo, Ruffi Gavron, Mara Bloom, Chad Toolick, Tila Tequila, TJ Cummings, Bekah Graf and more…
Guests began the night by perusing all of the gifts and bidding on the silent auction which included a weekend away in Utah, “Hot Mama” gift bags, and a lot of amazing artwork. One of the highest bidding items was a signed Wilson volleyball signed by Tom Hanks.
One of the coolest pieces of the evening was from the team from Ecovations, who made a surfboard out of Ed Begley, Jr’s fence. I spoke with Darren Moore, founder of Ecovations, who was very excited to show off the surfboard he and his team had worked so hard on. Darren’s mission for Ecovations is to try and take ordinary items and make them eco-friendly. They also offered surf lessons with the board that were bid up to $750.00.
After the live auction the party headed up to the rooftop to listen to the DJ Reflex from Power 106 spin. Guests also enjoyed special champagne and margarita cocktails sponsored by Red Light Energy Drink. The night was a huge success, generating $20,000 for Love Cures Cancer.
