Luzern Laboratories Presented Organic Luxury Skin Care Line at Fred Segal

Cash for your car

Fred Segal hosted a celebrity-studded event for Luzern Cosmetics last week. Couched in fineries and accompanied by champagne and chocolate desserts by Chef Thierry Daubercies, Luzern presented its line to celebrities and media alike.

Something New
Luzern is an innovative approach to skin care. Instead of making the customer buy dozens of different crèmes and lotions – each one for a different problem – Luzern as created a hydrating base crème and a few serums (each for something else) which can be added to the base interchangeably. The customer can pick and choose which skin issue he or she wants to work on, and then simply add a few drops of the corresponding serum to the base.

Luzern is an all-organic luxury brand which uses the finest “Bio-Swiss certified organic botanicals, medical-grade nutrients, and ultra-hydrating Alpine water” to bring the most subtle, yet powerful, anti-aging formula to you.

Luzern Laboratories was founded in 1996 and is based in the east coast. It is an all-American brand, using products grown in the United States.

The Technology Behind the Miracle
What is very interesting about Luzern is the extreme care and subtlety used to compose the products. The ingredients are so fine and so pure and the process is so exact to ensure that oxygen molecules remain in the resulting product.

These oxygen molecules are incredibly important, and key to Luzern’s effectiveness: they separate and carry the nutrient molecules in the crèmes or serums, which ensures that all of the goodness of Luzerne gets promptly and wholly absorbed by your skin, instead of remaining on top of your skin and clogging your pores.

The Product
Karen Ballou, Luzern’s rep, showed up at Fred Segal to talk about each crème and cosmetic and those attending were allowed to sample the products.

The base crème is wonderfully light. There was absolutely no greasy residue, and it was absorbed by my skin fairly quickly while still keeping my hand well moisturized. The consistency may surprise you – it isn’t like most crèmes or lotions. It is more fluid than most moisturizers I’ve come across; this consistency is part of (in addition to the oxygen molecules, of course) what makes it lighter and more easily absorbed by the skin.

Next came the serums. Each serum was very light and non-greasy and absorbed quickly.

LuzernThe serums are highly concentrated, so only a few drops are necessary daily. There are three ways of applying the serums:

You can apply three to five drops directly onto your skin. For example, the Serum Vanish Absolute, Luzern’s treatment for dark under-eye circles, can be applied directly to the fragile skin under your eyes.

You can also blend three to five drops of the serum with the base crème or your daily moisturizer to create a truly personalized day crème. The Serum Control Absolute, Luzern’s formula for oily and/or acne prone skin, can be mixed with moisturizer to create a holistic acne-fighting formula.

Finally, you can also add five drops to Luzern’s System O2 Infuse once-a-week mask. This works on a deeper level than the previous two methods, as the oxygen and Co-Q10 in System O2 Infuse draws the active ingredients deep into your skin.

Along with crèmes and serums, Luzern also offers facial masks and cleansers. Like the crèmes and serums, the facial mask was nicely light, as were the soft-foaming cleansers. Although rinsing is recommended for the cleansers, it is actually not necessary; there is no sticky residue and the skin is left feeling extremely soft.

A Friend to You, A Friend to the Environment
LuzernLuzern Laboratories is fully committed to the environment and to bringing the best quality, organic products to its clients. Luzern’s products are made with ingredients mixed in small batches to ensure quality and certified organic plant extracts and pharmaceutical-grade actives. They are paraben and formaldehyde free, hypo-allergic, non-comedogenic and are not tested on animals.

Luzern is also working on making their packaging more environmentally-friendly. The containers are already simple and without unnecessary breadth; however, Luzern has decided to take it step further. Newly packaged products will feature boxes made from recycled paper, and the silver paint will disappear. All ink will be non-toxic and made from plants sources, such as soy.

Celebrities in attendance included: Christine Devine, Leyla Milani (Deal Or No Deal), Judy Tenuta (Comedienne), Rachelle Carson-Begley (actress and wife of Ed Begley, Jr.), Mia St. John (Professional Boxer), Cathy Markham (Playboy Model), Adrienne Janic (Co-host for Overhaulin’ on TLC), Zee James (Everybody Hates Chris),

Luzern can be found in high-end department stores and boutiques, as well as high-end spas and online.
