If the appliances in your kitchen could use an upgrade, there are quite a few things that you can do to accomplish this. And while getting new appliances is a great option, there are still other things that you can do to give your current appliances an upgrade, too.

To help you see just what some of your options are, here are three tips for upgrading the appliances in your kitchen.

Find Interesting Ways To Update The Look

For those who have kitchen appliances that are still working well but that you don’t love the look of, there are things that you can do to update the look of older appliances so that you’re able to get the style and design you want in your kitchen without having to buy brand new appliances.

One thing you can try to make your appliances look fresher is to paint them. While this won’t work on all appliances, it can be an effective way to give your appliances a new look. You can also do things like using Washi tape or other decals and faux finishes to make your appliances look different. Or, if you just want things to look slightly more elevated, you could try swapping out the handles or other hardware and see if this gives you the look you’re wanting.

Know When Replacement Makes Sense

If it’s not just the look of your appliances that you don’t love but the way that they’re functioning as well, you might want to consider replacing them.

As a good rule of thumb, appliances should be replaced rather than repaired if they’ve over halfway through their expected lifespan and if the repair cost will be more than 50% of the cost for just getting a new appliance. If your kitchen appliances fall into these categories, buying new ones will likely be the best option for you.

Consider Opting For Stainless-Steel

If you do decide that you’re wanting or needing to buy new appliances for your kitchen, you might want to consider going with stainless-steel appliances as opposed to any of the alternatives.

High-quality, high-performance stainless-steel appliances will always be viewed positively by any potential buy if you ever choose to sell your home. And because you’ll likely enjoy looking at and using these stainless-steel appliances in your own kitchen as well, going with this finish when upgrading your appliances is a great option. Just make sure you don’t buy appliances that have features you won’t use or that cost far more than their competitors, as you likely won’t get as much return on this type of investment as you may hope when selling your house.

If you’re thinking about upgrading the appliances in your kitchen, consider using the tips mentioned above as you make these decisions.
