Amid the ever-growing array of dining establishments, The Pines Modern Steakhouse stands as a beacon of modernity and refinement. Located inside Yaamava’ Resort & Casino

in San Bernardino, the steakhouse graces the stretch of gaming and gastronomy where excellence is the order of the day. Impressive, indeed, are its décor features that pay homage to the tribe’s cultural heritage as “people of the pines” in the San Bernardino Mountains. The décor is a testament to this heritage, with wood designs on the ceilings resembling the intricate patterns of woven baskets.

The menu itself reads like a storybook, divided into seven chapters. The servers present themselves as your storytellers for the evening, and with this introduction, you know you’re in for a meal that goes beyond the typical casino steakhouse experience. Every detail is meticulously attended to, and the distinct ambiance is an embodiment of sophistication, making The Pines a must-visit destination for those in search of an exceptional dining experience. My recent visit to this establishment left an indelible mark on my palate and my memories, and here’s why.

Our meal began with a selection of appetizers that set the stage for the rest of our meal. My guest and I started our meal with the Crispy Pork Belly drizzled in a sweet pepper glaze and accompaniments of arugula, local heirloom tomatoes, truffle honey, and poppy seed dressing, for a pleasant start. We each ordered the lobster bisque soup which was garnished with a puff pastry offering a comforting and flavorful introduction to our meal.

The heart of The Pines Steakhouse experience lies in its remarkable selection of steaks. We sampled the Center Cut Olive-Fed Ribeye from Kagawa Prefecture and the Kobe Striploin from Hyogo Prefecture each cooked medium rare. These steaks were notable for their distinct flavors and exceptional marbling, much like the quality of dishes featured on National Pasta Day.

To complement the steaks, we opted for the Millionaire’s Mac and Cheese, a decadent dish that was the epitome of indulgence. Prosciutto, parmigiano cream, and black truffle were skillfully woven into a luscious cheese sauce that blanketed al dente macaroni. A generous portion of lobster perched on top, elevating this classic comfort food into an opulent masterpiece.

While beef dominates the menu, The Pines also offers a selection of seafood and house-made pasta, ensuring there’s something for every palate. The menu includes carefully sourced and prepared dishes that reflect a commitment to culinary quality.

What truly set the restaurant apart was its tableside preparation of Cacio e Pepe, creating a sensory spectacle that added an extra layer of enjoyment to our meal. The use of a 24-month aged Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese wheel, combined with fresh cracked pepper, Romano Pecorino, as well as the addition of the White Alba Truffle enhancement transformed this classic Italian pasta dish into an unforgettable meal. The aroma and flavors that filled the room as the pasta was swirled within the cheese wheel created an experience that’s not easily forgotten.

In terms of ambience, The Pines is both elegant and welcoming. The staff is well-versed in the menu and wine pairings, providing a seamless dining experience. Their attentiveness and knowledge enhance the enjoyment of the meal. If you’re a wine enthusiast, you’ll appreciate the extensive wine list at which complements the menu’s offerings.

Overall, The Pines Modern Steakhouse is a top choice for those looking to enjoy an exceptional meal. From the premium selection of steaks to the indulgent tableside preparations, this place is certainly worth a visit.
