Get Quality and Sustainability with Oliver Logan Denim

When shopping for denim, I always look for three things: quality, comfort, and affordability. These days however, I’ve added sustainability to that list. Enter Oliver Logan.

Oliver Logan offers an alternative to fast fashion, with mindful manufacturing, fair labor rights and lasting garments.

Based in Los Angeles, Oliver Logan is an eco-conscious denim brand that strives to lessen our impact on the environment. As a consumer with curvy hips, I appreciate that the brand is size inclusive and offers denim in various styles touting, “slow denim for every body.” For sustainable denim under $100, the company creates jeans that are ethical and affordable, yet also durable and modern.

Oliver Logan strives to build a cleaner, more sustainable planet, one pair of jeans at a time.

My favorite jean is the Crosby Relaxed Taper in Classic Blue, a four-year vintage denim that’s super comfy and perfect for all body types. The denim features an ultra-flattering mid to high rise fit (see ya later belly pooch), zipper fly, and a raw hem that can either be left straight or rolled up. It’s perfect for a timeless on-the-go look. The jeans are designed with a focus on supply chain sustainability and meant to last, and by “last” I mean they come with a lifetime guarantee. Even after extended use, Oliver Logan will repair it free of charge or replace; albeit faded color and blemishes are not covered by the warranty. They also come with free shipping and free returns.

What I liked most about Oliver Logan is their transparency. When it comes to buying sustainable clothing, disclosing information about their processes, resources, and labor practices is fundamental.  Oliver Logan shares sustainability reports on their website which outline everything from where their factories are located, to their fair labor practices, to detailing their slow fashion process. To delineate transparency, the brand partners with Green Story, a platform that measures the environmental impacts of brands. Their findings report that a single pair of Oliver Logan jeans conserves .52 CO2 emission — that’s about 1.2 miles worth of driving!

Comfortable, made with quality all at an affordable price

As far as processing goes, Oliver Logan jeans are manufactured in various parts of China, Vietnam, and its home base of Los Angeles. The brand says there are internal processes put in place to ensure they are being a good partner to its international workers that includes WRAP certification. WRAP is the international gold-standard for worker protection and ensures safe, lawful, human, and ethical labor conditions. Oliver Logan’s team also routinely checks its factory partners and works with their owners to provide worker empowerment programs such as education classes and morale building.

They focus on sustainability by using recycled yarn and cotton, in addition to high-powered laser technology to reduce water and chemical consumption. The company also uses air-dry technology for a slower, more sustainable approach.

In an effort to reduce textile waste, Oliver Logan also upcycles any rejected, returned, or excess fabric into denim dog toys (available online for $18). 10% of those proceeds go directly to the Labelle Foundation, an animal rescue devoted to saving, rehabilitating, and advocating for dogs in Los Angeles.

For timeless ethical denim, make Oliver Logan a wardrobe staple. You’ll have these classic jeans for years to come while leaving a consciously minimal footprint. To learn more, visit: oliverlogan.com.
