Hollywood glamour and Parisian style hair is now more attainable thanks to KOVA, a new blow dry bar, which recently opened its doors in West Hollywood.

Founded by innovative entrepreneurs and best friends, Jacob Journo and Emma Moquet, the concept of KOVA was to create an elevated French salon with a California touch.

“LA has always inspired me, said Moquet, a former model who brings over 15 years of Parisian fashion experience to the beauty scene.

“I wanted a salon that had the best of Paris and the best of LA. If you mix both of them, you get perfection.”

Located on bustling Robertson Boulevard, which has long been associated with beauty and self-care, KOVA is a salon built for everyone.

Walking into the chic space, visitors are greeted with modern music and ample daylight from the windows surrounding the art deco-glamoured salon.

When it came to the concept and design, the talented model and CEO said she put her heart and soul into KOVA. Working alongside interior designer and architect, Corrine Baginski, KOVA was designed with Hollywood glamour and Parisian je ne sais quois in mind.

“I hope people like it. I didn’t choose the colors [of the salon] because I thought it was going to work. I chose it because I like it.

“All my inspiration from the blowouts, the photoshoot, the interior design, are from my favorite decades: the 70’s to the 90’s. I wanted something pure, yet comfortable. Everything was personalized,” said Moquet.

Whether you’re in the mood for a sleek and shiny look or glamorous Hollywood curls, KOVA has a style for you. The blow dry menu features 11 chic and timeless styles all inspired by iconic women, such as: The Rita (the ultimate Hollywood demi dramatic waves), The Cindy (voluminous and wild hair with the stripe on the side), The Vanessa (sophisticated wet look with a silk back),  and The Carla (for kids) named after Moquet’s daughter.

Any style is also customizable to achieve a desired look.

“I wanted something a little different, said Moquet. “I want people to feel comfortable and want to come back. I want to create a community and be more than just a regular salon.”

Aside from building an inclusive space where people feel welcomed, its Moquet’s drive and commitment to excellence that sets her apart from her competitors.

“I’ve worked with women my entire life. I want women to feel beautiful and confident. I want to create a space of women empowerment. I believe that what you feel is what you attract. We have so much to do and handle every day and I really want to get to know my customers and personalize the brand for them at an affordable price.”

When it came to choosing the Swedish-based product line SACHAJUAN, the former model was also conscious about the environment.

SACHAJUAN, a Swedish-based company, is the product line of choice for KOVA.

“The products are very important. Because I wanted Kova to be a family, I wanted to use products that I know and trust. I wanted something organic and eco-friendly as well.

“I don’t want to give you something that I didn’t trust and like. The brand’s cleansing shampoo is my favorite. There’s no sulfate, it’s all organic and makes your hair so soft.”

Single blow-dry prices range from $35 (children) to $60 (nonmembers). Memberships are available for purchase at $9 a month, including $10 off each blow-dry service.

KOVA, 132 South Robertson Boulevard, West Hollywood, 90048, open every day from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
