Cantinas are popular across Latin America and Spain, and it’s perfect for the L.A. dining scene, where patrons will flock to the lively atmosphere and excellent dining. Vicente de Rio of Frimex Hospitality Group is also the owner of five locations of Frida Restaurants, along with Taco Libre in the L.A. area and coming soon to Las Vegas at Caesars Palace. Now he has brought his vision for authentic food from Mexico City paired with a special, distinct energy.

As a result, you’ll find traditional Mexican cuisine in a modern setting, serving brunch, lunch, and dinner.

The brunch menu features hearty Mexican-style favorites such as huevos rancheros (two eggs, corn tortillas, ranchera salsa, black beans, and queso fresco), chilaquiles (crispy corn tortilla, red or green salsa, cochinita pibil, queso fresco, sour cream, and black beans), and huevos a caballo (grilled beef, two scrambled eggs, and home potatoes).

For dinner, patrons can enjoy ceviche mixto (fish, shrimp, octopus, avocado, pico de gallo, lime juice, and extra virgin olive oil), carpaccio de salmon (salmon, onion, cilantro, jalapeno, avocado, lime juice, soy sauce, sesame seeds), tacos de langosta (lobster, homemade lobster tomato sauce, chipotle, mayo, in a flour tortilla), and tomahawk cantina (a 29-ounce bone-in ribeye, red wine steak gravy, and roasted potatoes). No matter the time of day, you can partake of a mix of mezcal , cilantro, and jalapeño to complement your meal.

“Frida Cantina that is more upscale in New Mexican Cuisine and draws in a lot of clientele. This restaurant is vibrant and full of life. You can feel the energy when you walk in. The restaurant is spacious and has that modern ambiance. The first room you walk into is open to the general public, which has a bar, booth seating, and regular dining tables.

The back room where I dined is for a private party, which was more intimate and not as loud. There is a second floor, which is a speakeasy. Of course, it is a darker vibe with a full bar, and the room is shaped in a backwards L. I need to come back and have the full experience. They have Latin music playing,” says a recent patron.

Cantina Frida welcomes large groups. Parties of 15-25 guests can dine in a cozy private room with a private entrance behind the main dining room. This quiet, intimate environment is perfectly suited for special events, without sacrificing the cantina’s irresistible energy.
