Teeling Whiskey, awarded World’s Best Single Malt at the 2019 World Whiskies Awards for its 24-year-old single malt, is launching a brand-new single-pot still and chestnut-cask rested single cask later this year. Teeling is one of the most innovative and exciting whiskey companies in Ireland today. Now you too can have a taste of the best.

Teeling Whiskey was the first Irish whiskey to earn this ultimate honor at the World Whiskies Awards and, building on that success, plans to bring that award-winning taste to the rest of the world. Connoisseurs will soon be able to pick up the hyper-limited 24-year-old single malt, along with the newest single-pot and single-casks offerings, at outlets around the country.

Whiskey Makes a Big Comeback
Teeling founders Jack and Stephen Teeling are kick-starting the Irish whiskey renaissance with the new single-pot still, the first whiskey distilled in Dublin in nearly 50 years. Teeling uses a patently Irish mash composed of malted and unmalted barley, respecting the famous Dublin style while pioneering a new direction for single-pot stills. The single-pot still is available starting Jan. 1, 2020 and open for pre-sale on Nov. 15.

“The release of our own Dublin distilled whiskey completes the revival of craft distilling in Dublin and draws us into a new renaissance, not only for Teeling Whiskey but also for Dublin distilled Irish whiskey as a whole,” said Jack Teeling, founder and managing director.

In addition, Teeling will launch a new, limited-release single cask, exclusive to the United States.

Originally a single malt whiskey matured in former bourbon barrels, the new single cask is finished in chestnut casks. The result is a distinctive, complicated flavor profile with an undeniable chestnut influence.

This past week, Master Distiller Alex Chasko hosted a six-flight sampling of Teeling Whiskey’s finest labels to Los Angeles influencers and media at The Tasting Kitchen on Venice’s Abbot Kinney Blvd.

Food pairings by The Tasting Kitchen included beets with creme fraiche and a tarragon cider vinaigrette, squab in a mustard jus with charred cabbage and whiskey-brined pork belly with roasted apples and beer-braised endive. The second course was delicious Rigatoni with wild mushroom and sage, creste de gallo pasta in a savory boar and persimmon ragu.

Another course was an elevated surf n turf of tender bitters-braised beef cheeks with a parsnip creme fraiche puree and choucroute de la mer. And then a trio of seafood served with braised sauerkraut.

Dessert was profiteroles with caramel gelato, bourbon caramel, and smoked salt, as well as torta della Nonna, an Italian pastry and lemon custard dish with Ricotta, chestnut honey and pear. Wow!
