Knowing the benefits of botanicals comes naturally to Jill Jones. An avid organic gardener and former nurse, Jill transformed her hands-on experience and passion for creating balms and soaps into a full line of luxurious body care products called Bidwell Botanicals.

LA’s The Place: What made you decide to produce bath products?
Jill Jones, Founder of Bidwell Botanicals: I have been making bath and cosmetic products since I was a child and created natural infused oils, soaps and bath treats to use on myself and family members. I decided in 2002 that I would bring what I was making to market since they had been so well received by family and friends and my test markets.
LATP: How do you come by attaining the ingredients?
JJ: Some of the ingredients we source locally from farmers, our organic gardens and, believe it or not, the grocery store. We also purchase from large suppliers in the US and around the world for things like shea butter, honey and exotic vegetable based oils.
LATP: What do you base your formulations on?
JJ: To begin with I use my imagination and do a lot of research on line and out in the world around me. I seek out combinations of oils, botanicals and new innovations in the cosmetic industry to put together new products, scents, colors and textures. Sometimes it’s as simple as walking through the garden to see what’s in bloom or ready to pick.
LATP: How is your brand different from commercial brands in the marketplace?
JJ: Our products are a unique blend of nature and science, to give our customers the best of both. We create small batches daily to offer fresh products and maintain very high standards of quality control. In mass manufacturing you are lucky if they can check 5 out of 10,000 pieces going through the line. We make sure each and every product that we sell is perfect, fresh and fabulous!
LATP: What are your personal favorites?
JJ: So hard to pick just a few, but if I had to I’d say the Limoncello, Rosemary & Mint and Cranberry Fig scents are my favorites. As for products, the Artisan Soap and the Shea Butter Sugar Scrub in any of the many types available are tops on my list.
LATP: What do they offer at boutiques and spas?
JJ: The spas and boutiques we partner with offer a variety of our products both for retail and for use in treatments. We offer seasonal selections, such as our Gingerbread Latté, Spiced Pumpkin and Sugar Plum during the holidays and many exclusive scents like Coconut Mango and Honey Bamboo year round.
