About Fortunes to Live By
In the words of owner and founder of Fortunes To Live By, Christine Harding:
At 22, I was newly engaged and having dinner with my fiancée at a Chinese restaurant. The fortune I received was “Your future will be built on firm foundation.” I was starry eyed and thought it was perfect as we were starting a new life together. It lived in my wallet for over 25 years. I revisited it every time I changed wallets. One of the times I found it I was a divorced single mother. It was still true; I had a good career and was building a foundation for myself and my daughter. Many years later when I found it I was remarried and had become a part of an instant family of four (my new husband had custody of his daughter). It was still true; we quickly set to work planning for a new home, family vacations, college educations, etc. Years later I was changing wallets and, sadly, it was gone.
I thought of the fortune occasionally. I missed it and got melancholy when I thought about it and how it had served me well all those years. It was meaningful no matter what stage of life I was in including the tough times.
