The original BoHo Restaurant closed up shop at its original location on Sunset and Ivar and moved to Hollywood and Highland with a new space and under the same, well-known name BoHo. Restauranteur Adolfo Suaya was able to open the new restaurant in time for the summer months in the heart of Hollywood to the delight of Shaul Kuba of CIM (owners of the Hollywood & Highland complex).

David Mamman and Spacecraft’s Kristopher Keith returned to the project as the architect and interior designer, respectively. The Executive Chef Wesley Pumphrey is new to the team, coming from SLS Bazaar.

On April 9, the restaurant hosted a Grand Opening event featuring the Wolfgang Puck wood fire pizza oven and Boho’s signature styles, like Margharita Pizza (Tomato Confit, Buffalo Mozzarella & Basil); Mushroom & Prosciutto Pizza (with Herb/Truffle Oil); Greek Pizza (Loukanika(lamb sausage), Spinach, Feta, Tomatoes, Red Onion, Garlic, topped with Kalamata Olives); and Spaniard Pizza (Chorizo, Manchego, Piquillo Peppers, Caramelized Onions, Membrillo & Cilantro).

When entering BoHo’s new location on the fourth floor of Hollywood and Highland, one is greeted by personable and knowledgeable staff from the start—a nice and refreshing beginning to the dining experience. A bar sits in the middle area of the restaurant and tables for full service meals lie on both sides.

The first dish served at tables is a simple yet hunger satisfying piece of pretzel bread with mustard for dipping. It’s a perfect per-appetizer to accompany the many craft and microbrewed beers offered at BoHo. The varieties are split on the menu by type: “Light & Easy,” “Bigger & Bitter” and “Bold & Dangerous.”

On the “Light & Easy” side are choices like Craftsman 1903, Paulaner Hefeweizen, Avery White Rascal and Anchor Summer. Each beer choice also has a fun description to keep things interesting. On the “Bigger & Bitter” side, O’Hara’s Irish Stout is called “better than a Guinness” and the Firestone DBA is described as “an extremely drinkable pale ale from California.”

The “Bold & Dangerous” choices include beers like North Coast Old Rasputin, Port Mongo IPA and Hofbrau Maibock. For those who are looking for a liquor-based drink to complement the meal, there are cocktail options in categories called Specialty Drinks, The Classics and The Standards. Highlights on the Specialty Drinks side are the Kreamy Kraken (Kraken Spiced Rum, Vanilla Cream soda, milk on the rocks) and the Apple Saint Germain (Reyka vodka, St. Germain Elderflower Liquor, apple and lemon juice).

The less adventurous drinker can still get some common favorites: Screwdriver, tequila Sunrise and Long Island Ice Tea. Or some popular options with a BoHo twist: Bojito, The BoHo Cosmo and a special Sangria. Many wine selections are available as well.

The restaurant is open for both lunch and dinner. Lunch Specials such as a Hummus Appetizer and a Chicken Biscuit are featured. A special Sunday Brunch offering is coming soon.

The dinner menu’s appetizer list runs the gamut from inspired dishes like the Tri-Tip Chile (jalapeno corn muffin) to Mushroom Toasts (truffle cream) to Caesar Salad (romaine hearts, caesar dressing, toasted bread, parmasan) to even a comfort food like Chicken Noodle Soup. The Mushroom Toasts and Tuna Tartare (crispy wontons, tuna tartare, wasabi cream, soy) are complete stand outs. Actress Kirstie Alley even tweeted about the Mushroom Toasts after trying them recently at the new location. The creamy mushroom sauce is one piece of the BoHo menu that will have diners returning after craves won’t subside.

BoHo’s second menu section is full of its many pizza flavors, including standards like Pepperoni, Meatball and Margherita. The Meatball (house-made meatballs, tomato sauce, mozzarella, oregono) works perfectly for those wanting something they can rely on—meatball pizza is a dependable flavor, and it does not disappoint here with BoHo’s clearly home-made meatballs.

In addition, the pizza menu offers the aforementioned Greek pizza and one called the Spaniard for the more daring diners.

For the entree portion of the evening, the options do not cease their multitude and freshness, as well as giving everyone something they will enjoy and leave satisfied after eating. The BoHo Burger contains cambazola cheese, grilled onion, tomato, pickles, 100 island dressing, fries and aioli, and gives a hearty helping of each ingredient. The Thick Cut Pork Chop might be the thickest cut of pork in town, however, it stays tender and juicy by the chef’s powerful skills in the kitchen. Pair the pork chop with collard greens and potato gratin for a nice meal.

The Free-Range Roasted Chicken boasts the right amount of seasoning and comes with delicious and creamy mashed potatoes. Other entree choices include the Pig Burger, Fish & Chips, Steak & Potatoes and the Meatball Grinder sandwich.

To top off the delightful and well-rounded meal, BoHo offers some seasonal dessert options, including a tangy but sweet twist on the Strawberry Shortcake everyone yearns for in the summer. This dish contains a strawberry sauce featuring balsamic for a different and intriguing twist.

With its new location and exceptional service, BoHo is the perfect choice for a night out in Hollywood and for those wanting delicious food. The theme seems to be something for everyone as every variety of food is delicious and leaves a last impression on the diner.
