The W Los Angeles – Westwood has many amazing happenings this summer for LA locals. This month, new Executive Chef Dakota Weiss showcases versatile culinary skills with menu of global influences at hotel’s renowned fine dining restaurant NINETHIRTY, with a new monthly dining experience called “W Around the World”. New and innovative menus with exotic cuisines inspired by newly opened W Hotels across the globe will be presented.

This summer, every 2nd Saturday of the month, guests and Los Angeles locals alike can experience specialty dinner menus from Chef Weiss. For one night each month, the menu will embody the vibrant cultures and cuisines from the brand’s sister properties including W Barcelona, W Santiago, W Bali and W Tapei.

“These days, our guests have a worldlier and more educated palate, so with this I wanted to share my love for other cultures and cuisines by cooking ethnic food that one would encounter at other W properties across the globe” says Dakota Weiss, Executive Chef of NINETHIRTY restaurant and The Backyard. “All of the dishes we will be offering this summer will range from exotic street food to elegant fine dining…to me this is living!”

Beginning this June, honoring the Mediterranean flavors of Barcelona, Spain, the menu will feature an appetizer of roasted garlic and queso de mano with marinated tomatoes and grilled bread; an entrée known as “Fideua”, braised prawns and chicken with buckwheat noodles; and a decadent crema catalana for dessert.

Influenced by the exotic flavors native to Santiago, Chile in July, Chef Dakota created an appetizer of baby shrimp ceviche with salted lime granite and jalapeño oil; a spicy beef empanada entrée with queso fresco and golden raisins; and a sweet dessert of lemon pie, red chili and chocolate shortbread.

Showcasing the wholesome Middle Eastern cuisine signature to Bali, Indonesia in August, guests can enjoy ginger coconut bisque with cilantro infused olive oil, followed by sugarcane skewered chicken with pickled papaya and forbidden rice, and end with rich coconut pancakes topped with fried bananas.  Ending the world tour in September, the restaurant will offer fresh seafood dishes reflective of the cuisine in Taipei, Taiwan, with miso and scallion marinated grilled squid with crispy crepes to start, whole grilled snapper with pineapple, sweet onions and vermicelli, followed by a light and refreshing dessert of melon ice with mint.

To further enhance guests’ experience, the property will be offering a special sweepstakes to all dinner patrons. Those who drop their business cards will be entered into a drawing to win free 3-night stay at W property in each corresponding city – W Barcelona (6/11), W Santiago (7/9), W Bali (8/13), and W Taipei (9/10). W Around the World menu will be available in NINETHIRTY between 5:00PM and 10:00PM.
