Haldi Root Restaurant & Bar has become not only a culinary destination but a buzzing, social hub of the San Fernando Valley. Under the helm of Executive Chef Sanjay Kumar, guests are treated to both traditional Indian cuisine like Garlic Chicken and Lamb Chops Kandahar and Italian classics like Lasagna and Chicken Parmigiana that incorporate Chef Kumar’s European sensibilities and training.

Modern Indian Cuisine

By incorporating the authentic spices and ingredients of Indian cuisine and making use of French and Italian techniques he learned while working in Austria and Germany restaurants and hotels, Kumar has brought his two worlds together at Haldi Root. “We wanted to create a restaurant with contemporary Indian cuisine that drew on my background as a European trained and educated chef,” Chef Kumar said. There are two distinct menus for your delight – Indian & Italian, each having influences of the other. The staff says about 80% of their guests order Indian and 20% order Italian. No matter what you are craving – East or West cuisine or both – Haldi Root has it.

Spicy Nightlife at Haldi Root

Not only does Haldi Root offer an interesting and diverse menu selection but the nightly happy hour and karaoke events certainly contribute to the spice of Haldi Root’s ambiance as well. Popular with the locals, the bar fills up with enthusiastic singers serenading the crowd with everything from show tunes to Sinatra ballads to modern hits.

Haldi Root Bar - Nightly Happy Hours & Karaoke Wed-Sat

“Since our opening, guests have been excited to partake in the cuisine, as well as the social aspects of the restaurant – including nightly happy hour and karaoke nights. Haldi Root has become a social meeting spot for co-workers to have a drink after work or for friends getting together for dinner or karaoke, which is exactly what I envisioned for this restaurant,” explains Chef Kumar.

Nightly happy hour is from 5-7 pm and offers appetizers for $6 and wine, beer and cocktails for $4. Haldi Root’s popular karaoke nights are from 9:30 p.m. – 1:30 a.m. Wednesday through Saturday.

Lunch Buffet for $8.95

For lunch, Haldi Root’s buffet is considered one of the best deals in San Fernando Valley.  For $8.95 per person, there is an abundance of Indian classic dishes including naan, samosas, byriani and a wide variety of traditional dishes. For their Indian dishes, they prepare the spices daily and separately to create the perfect blend of flavor using an age old tradition in spice preparation.
