The week of Aug. 2 marked the grand opening of the new Dtox Day Spa location in Encino, Calif., and the week before, the venue held a private opening to debut some of the venue’s offerings on July 29.
The new spot is located in Encino Courtyard on Ventura Boulevard, and Dtox Day Spa already has a spot in Los Feliz that was honored in Los Angeles Magazine’s Best of 2007 list. Stepping into the Encino location was a nice change from the fast-paced atmosphere of Los Angeles sitting right outside of the relaxing epicenter of casual elegance that is Dtox Day Spa.

Though not quite open officially, the Spa hosted a choice of several of their services for the private opening’s guests, including a Custom Facial (with one high-performance serum), Stress Relief massage (neck and shoulder), Girls on Heels massage (calf and foot), Men in Boots (calf and foot), Text Message Delete (forearm and hand), Hand and Foot Scrub (organic sea salt butter) and Reiki (Japanese Energetic Healing).
Along with the fun and descriptive names of the services, the masseuses did a great job relaxing and de-stressing the event’s attendees to the point that when leaving the massage area, there was a clear difference in appearance and aura of the person—something fun to observe as taking in the Spa’s classy and styled ambiance.
Coed steams and saunas as well as 15-second rain showers top off the available spa-like amenities.
The outdoor area hosted an excellent array of hors d’oderves including cheeses, fruits and two kinds of wraps and one sandwich. Also available was a refreshing mixed drink made by Mixologist Joel Black of The Doheny. The light beverage was based in vodka and made with real pieces of fruit accompanying the overall feeling of the Spa perfectly.

The patio area also possesses several cabana-like areas to sit in and a fire pit, great for relaxing after or before an amazing massage! The inside has plenty of space to lounge in as well for cooler evenings or hot days when outside resting is not the ideal, and one of the rooms is complete with a lightly running fountain of water.
Upon a tour of Dtox Day Spa, the completely furnished women’s dressing room was a dream of anything a lady needs to get ready with razors, toothbrushes and hair brushes, as well as iced water with lemons and limes. Many were commenting that they wanted to move in to the area, and who can blame them?
Throughout the Spa are renewable resources like bamboo and low VOC paint, another aspect that subtly soothes the daily inhabitants.

When leaving the private opening, guests received a gift bag with several samples of available lotions, candles and creams as well as a 50-percent off coupon for another visit, and believe me, I will be revisiting and recommending Dtox Day Spa to anyone I come in contact with who would appreciate the gorgeous craftsmanship inside and the special attention the creators have taken to what makes us relax!
