A recipient in 2008 of two bronze medals from the Telly Awards, Hank was acknowledged for his work on “Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger declares Joe Weider Day” and “Joe Weider, Mr. Olympia Trainer of Champions.” Hank’s camera work has captured a variety of events for his clients, from celebrity interviews to red carpet coverage and holiday parades to marathons. Hank’s credits also include corporate training videos, stageplays, film festivals and much more.

A Student of the Craft

Hank graduated from Kent State University in Business Administration and in Electronics from Pierce College and has since demonstrated a relentless enthusiasm in his study and mastery of camera work and editing, balancing his creative instincts with an analytical eye. He holds certifications from Apple Pro Training Series in Apple Final Cut 5 & 6, in Radio and Television Broadcasting from Career Academy and received accreditation through the Video Production Workshop at South Bay Extension School. Additionally, Hank is a Certified Legal Video Specialist from the National Court Reporters Association.

Hank navigates easily from one operating system to another, including Macintosh 10.0x, UNIX/Solaris, and Microsoft Windows (95/98/2000/2003/XP Professional). He’s also worked with SunSparc10, Ultra 5 workstations and windows servers. Hank’s software expertise includes programs like Final Cut Studio 2, Final Cut Pro 5 & 6, Photoshop, DVD Studio Pro, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Venus 1500/7000, Maximizer and Telnet.

A Versatile Cameraman

As a cameraman, John Hank has proven himself with multiple cameras and setups and is especially adept while working with a handheld, covering events like the 2006 Children’s Christmas Parade for the City of Upland and live coverage of the 2004 and 2006 City of Ontario July 4th Parade. Regardless of the type of camera, he is skilled in executing unusual angles and perspectives from high, low and moving viewpoints while also known for his fast setup and high quality video work with correct video and audio parameters. Hank has shot with Sony DVCAM, Betacam SP, Panasonic DVCPRO, S-VHS and JVC HD cameras.

A Certified Legal Video Specialist

Hank’s work in the legal arena is extensive. As an Independent Contractor for Court Reporting Agencies and Legal Video Contractors, Hank is a Certified Legal Video Specialist and has shot Video Depositions as well as “Day in the Life” features for legal clients. He’s also been responsible for integrating, designing, installing and servicing Video Arraignment, Visitation, Teleconferencing, and Codec Digital Video and Audio systems for judicial and correctional institutions. Finally, Hank is experienced in “no excuses” video for court systems throughout the United States.

A Humble Craftsman

Perhaps what is most impressive about John Hank is his willingness to work on a diverse range of projects and coordinate effectively with directors and reporters in those assignments. He’s receptive to instruction and works enthusiastically with directors and reporters alike to achieve the optimum video and production outcome. Hank was a videographer for Mickey Sinardi’s Showstoppers Stars Spectacular CBS Studio Center, Joe Weider Publications, Muscle & Fitness/Flex Magazine, Canadian YMHA Award, and was contracted by Magnolia Street Productions for the Ontario Chamber of Commerce.

He’s worked the red carpet at the Indian Film Festival for the Los Angeles premier of the Oscar nominated film, Water, and shot Destiny’s Calling for The Stella Adler Academy and Theatre in Hollywood. In working with reporters, Hank has served on location as a cameraman for NAB HD 2006, KIIS-FM and KNX News. He’s also done walking and talent following work for CBS 2 air talent demo reels. No client has proven to be too large for Hank as he’s also performed admirably for Target, American Cancer Society and the City of Los Angeles.

A Well Rounded Talent

John Hank complements his creative work with a substantial base of knowledge for the technical side of things. He has an ability to use variety of electronic test equipment for signal delivery including spectrum analyzer, video waveform monitor/vectorscope/oscilloscope, RF field test meters, DVM’s and telephone line test equipment. Hank is also accomplished at video signal transfer maintaining broadcast specifications. His transmit experience includes RS232, RS485, Modem, RJ45, RJ11 telephone wire, CAT5, Fiber Optics, TCP/IP and RG59, 58, 11 and 6 coax.

Hank understands internet streaming, has file transfer protocol experience and is proficient with LAN network data signal cable termination for Fiber optic signal transfer experience. Over the last 17 years, Hank has demonstrated a keen understand of RF & KU-Band Satellite Data communications. He is well versed in locating satellite signal seeking, dish alignment and is a camera position and function specialist for digital video systems, codecs and teleconferencing.
