Boule, a modern chocolate patisserie collaborated with Anheuser Busch to create a chocolate and beer-paired event. Those with sophisticated palettes were able to appreciate not only good beer, but chocolates that looked more like edible art than food. Boule’s chocolatier worked alongside a team from Anheuser Busch to create 5 unique pairs of chocolate and beer, each bringing completely new flavors to one’s taste buds. The favorite pair of the night seemed to be the Blue Cheese Pear Truffle with Spiced Walnut, which was paired with Michelob Drunkel Weisse. Both employees of Boule and Anheuser Busch were readily available to answer any questions for those tasting. Brewmaster Jim Reiha was also there, and he offered some great tips on the right way to pour a beer. He is the definition of a beer lover, and his expertise were a great addition to the night.

Boule is a dessert-lover’s haven, owned by the geniuses behind restaurants Sona and Comme Ca. They describe themselves as a “sweet spot where style and substance meet”. Entranced by large windows, an on-looker can quickly see the pale blue walls, high ceilings and grand display cases, which make it hard not to go inside. They décor itself invites you in, and the superior confections make you never want to leave They have an appetizing selection of chocolates made with ingredients one would not normally see. Their classic choices include “Baila”, a saffron macadamia chocolate, “Lili”, a passionfruit-ivoire. “Blush”, a rose champagne truffle, and “Raven” a hazelenut mocha truffle. Not only do their chocolates impress, but they also have cakes, tarts, sorbets, ice cream. Everything is made from scratch, and even those unfamiliar with chocolate and pastries can tell that Boule is not the average patisserie. The perfectly made chocolates are so beautifully made, patrons wonder if this is food or art. If you tend to fall for pretty things-sparkly, decorative, smooth, and radiant, then you will fall in love with Boule only seconds after walking through the door.

Visit their store at 408 N. La Cienega Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90048. Call 310.289.9977 for any other questions. Boule is a little piece of heaven for the avid chocoholic in all of us.
