The saying “leisure with dignity”, created by the designers of the trendy clothing label “Hozell”, is a summation of what most of us aspire to attain our entire lives. The sheer exhilaration of having the essential combination of time and finances, which make this ideal possible, is to some people a feeling almost as powerful as love. Therefore, to most, leisure time, is a time be enjoyed, to be free, to be truly happy.

So enters “Hozell”, a brand new clothing line emerging from Orange County, California and inspired by the relaxed beaches of So Cal, the surf life, and the skater style, whose motto is “life is too important to be taken seriously”. “Hozell” is an easy blend between stylish golf attire and the relaxed, leisurely lifestyle that it’s creators represent, incorporating their cheerful, carefree attitude and optimistic outlooks towards life. This unique product, which is an extension of the lives of its founders and friends, is quickly skyrocketing into a previously untapped market that celebrates the careful attention to detail it’s founders acquired while living in metropolitan fashion hubs such as L.A. an N.Y.C. and a simple message of “golf, leisure, and soul”.

The creators, Jeff Jackel and Chad Champion, are the dynamic, twenty-something, innovating crew that spawned the whole “Hozell” movement. Their very existence in the midst of a growing culture of younger people who believe in a laissez-faire lifestyle, “taking life as it comes” and truly enjoying youth, largely contributed to ideology behind the clothing line. Chad’s experience growing up in the Pacific Northwest, Orange County, rural Pennsylvania, and New York City increased his interest in personal individuality, discovering different music scenes, searching for bohemian outlets, and happening upon funky boutiques. Jeff, who grew up in Southern California, was inspired an interest in art at an early age and his father who worked for Ocean Pacific. He later attended The USC School of Cinematic Arts, produced a few award winning short films, and started a film production company, before discovering his true calling with “Hozell”. With Chad bringing the love of the tranquility of the golf course and Jeff encompassing the laid back lifestyle of the O.C., “Hozell” promises to be something totally new and refreshing.

“Hozell” is manufactured in a Costa Mesa warehouse loft with a vegetable oil-powered van and a 20ft green trailer in back of it. The trailer, purchased for $200, was initially living quarters for Chad and Jeff when they first started out, and then later was converted into a jazzed up showroom on wheels. “Hozell” is exclusive by choice, with the company consciously choosing to sell to a few elite groups of retail shops and through the company itself. Production is limited, thus “Hozell” has mainly been getting a buzz by word of mouth, loyal customers, and avid followers.
