Marylou and Daniel Sanders have found a way to both help the environment while looking great. With Poetic Justice, Marylou Marsh-Sanders’ new line, they combine nature with beautiful design to create the most comfortable, innovative clothing.

Marylou Marsh-Sanders is no stranger to great fashion. In 1979 she co-founded Sardine Productions, a graphic design and silk-screen company located in Brooklyn, NY.  The company focused primarily on the music industry and did merchandising and design work for legendary New York bands such as: the Dictators, Twisted Sister, and the Ramones. Eventually Marylou’s contacts in the music industry led to a consulting position with A&M records working in band image and talent development   She was well known in the “new wave” music scene for her hip dancing style and was hired by celebrities such as Rene Russo to develop her “street dancing” skills.

Then in 1984 Marylou and Daniel formed “ML Marsh Designs”, a better woman’s sportswear collection. Because of her long-held desire to put her fashion design skills into play, the company then began by creating garments that were unique and clever combinations of fabric and fit. ML Marsh designs was one of the first companies to offer seamless bodies for the imprinting industry, working fabulously well with Japanese artists like Nakazawa. Due to her one-of-a-kind innovation she won awards for her designs including the coveted “Tommy” award in the dress category.

Due to her and the world’s growing concerns for the environment Daniel, Marylou and Edward Mandeau founded Ecosport Inc. in 1990. Marylou became one of the first designers to work with organic fabrics putting Ecosport at the forefront of the eco-fashion industry. Ecosport grew to become the largest and most dynamic producer of organic cotton in the world. They were also responsible for assisting in the launch of organic cotton programs for large companies including Patagonia, Levi’s, Danskin, Coldwater Creek, and Nike.

Ecosport was sold to Gaiam, a publicly traded company based out of Broomfield, Colorado in 2000 which is when Marylou decided to switch gears and focus on oil painting. Her paintings are always skillfully crafted with imaginative and relevant themes that often require weeks to create due to her great attention to detail. Her pieces have hung in many national galleries, and reproductions have sold to several private collectors.

In 2006 Marylou returned to the fashion scene with the creation of SPX Organic basic collection. SPX Organic is comprised of fashion basics made to be perfect for imprinting. Poetic Justice is her new line, derivative from her Seventh Avenue roots merging with the sustainable practices that came from Ecosport.

Poetic Justice pieces are incredibly well crafted apparel and accessories that make anyone feel like a star. Marylou’s designs are indeed works of art, and the best part is that they are all wearable. Poetic Justice’s use of organic cotton make their pieces very different than anything else in a normal wardrobe. The pieces merely feel better when you wear them, quite possibly because they are each wonderful designs that are conscious of environmental problems.
