Platinum Publicity’s 4th Annual Gifting Lounge Celebrates the MTV Movie Awards

Melanie Segal’s Platinum Publicity presented their fourth annual gifting lounge at The W Hollywood Residences Welcome Center, and gave guests a peak preview of what The W will look like when it opens in 2009. While celebrating the MTV Movie Awards by providing celebrity guests with exclusive access to the latest and most sought after products, the gifting lounge also raised money and awareness for Brad Pitt’s Make It Right NOLA.

The mission for Make It Right is to be a catalyst for redevelopment of the Lower 9th Ward in New Orleans, which was completely destroyed by Hurricane Katrina, by building a neighborhood comprised of safe and healthy homes while preserving the community’s culture. Celebrity guests who came to support Make It Right and also got gifted included Joel Madden, Tila Tequila, Rachel Leigh Cook, Adrienne Curry, Jennifer Murphy, Shar Jackson, Andrew Keegan, Ian Ziering, Kelis, Kathy Hilton, Whitney Port, Christine Devine, Sam Rubin, Charles Segal, Judy Tenuta and many more.

Barry’s Tickets were a big sponsor of the Melanie Segal Gift Lounge as well. The stars were quite excited to be gifted with such essentials. Kathy Hilton was seen picking up Logitech ipod speakers for her daughter Paris at the Gift Lounge.

Samsung, known for its innovative technology, is the leading consumer electronics brand in the world. They were giving away the new Pebble MP3 player that won’t be available in stores until July. Paul Oakenfold made a rare appearance by visiting Melanie Segal’s Gift Lounge and was thrilled to listen to his own songs on the Samsung Pebble MP3 player he picked up. 

MTV/Nickelodeon was also a sponsor for the event and provided guests with many fun products. Joel Madden headed straight for Domino’s Pizza and continued eating it throughout the whole lounge. Kathy Hilton was seen picking up Great China Wall for her daughter Nikki, these t-shirts retail for $1,200 each.

Joel Madden and the rest of the celebrity guests at the Melanie Segal Gift Lounge signed a “Green Bike” which will be auctioned off for Brad Pitt’s Make it Right NOLA. Kristin Riiter, who starred opposite Katherine Heigl in 27 Dresses, tried on 27 pairs of Tag jeans. It was more around ten pairs, but nonetheless she decided on the first pair she tried on in the first place.

Keesha Sharp of “Girlfriends”, Whitney Port of MTV’s hit show The Hills picked up dresses and tanks from designer Julianna Jabour, and Tila Tequila got a few of her favorite Biatta Intimate Apparel bras and panties to wear for the winner of her heart on her TV show. Tila also stopped for a few minutes to do shots of Hacienda Tequila from Mexico.

Melanie Segal’s Gift Lounge adopted a Make it Right NOLA team house in New Orleans to help build. To date the lounge has raised around $6,000 which is the 5th highest amount raised on the site right now. The lounge is hoping to raise even more money in the future.
