Tower Cancer Research Foundation Gala to Focus on Hope, Healing and Humanity

Tower Cancer Research Foundation will hold its 6th Annual Tower of Hope fundraising gala on Sunday, May 18, 2008, at The Beverly Hilton.  Highlighting the event will be the presentation of three awards, one each for “Hope,” “Healing” and “Humanity.”   A reception and silent auction begin the evening, followed by dinner and a raffle for America’s smallest car, a “smart fortwo passion” supplied by Mercedes-Benz of Beverly Hills and smart center of Beverly Hills.

Rabbi David and Eliana Wolpe, both cancer survivors, will receive the Hope AwardRabbi of L.A.’s Sinai Temple, David Wolpe’s journey through illness has infused his thought-provoking and reflective sermons and articles with the importance and value of learning lessons when faced with life’s challenges.

Tower Cancer Research Foundation Medical Director Dr. Peter Rosen will be the recipient of the Healing Award.  A retired clinical oncologist with an international reputation in oncological research, Dr. Rosen is devoted to improving cancer care from both patient and scientific perspectives.  With Dr. Fred Rosenfelt, he co-founded the Southern California Lymphoma Group, which produces educational seminars on advancements in lymphoma treatment.

The Humanitarian Award will be presented to Dr. Barry Rosenbloom, a senior partner at Tower Hematology Oncology Medical Group.  Widely loved and respected, Dr. Rosenbloom is considered by patients, friends and colleagues alike, to be one of the kindest, most caring physicians, the embodiment of the medical group’s spirit.  Committed to patient care and education for over 30 years, Dr. Rosenbloom also serves as the medical group’s director of the Comprehensive Gaucher Treatment Center.
