Music Center Announces December Events

As we head into the holiday season, Music Center presents their December event calendar, helping to make the holiday months enjoyable, yet extremely affordable.
The Urban Garden Talks
The William Keck Foundation Children’s Amphitheatre is hosting this event on December 12, giving you a chance to bring the garden inside. Giving you the secrets you need to add style to plants and make them uniquely yours, you’re sure to walk away with some great and inexpensive garden gift ideas.
Following the event, there will be a 60 minute tour of the nearly 1-acre community garden.

Taking place on December 12 at the William Keck Foundation Children’s Amphitheatre and Urban Garden at Walt Disney Concert Hall at 111 S. Grand Avenue in downtown Los Angeles, the event begins at 12 p.m. and admission is free. Performing Books Series- The Velveteen Rabbit.
If you have kids, the LA public library might be the place to be on Saturday December 15 as they celebrate The Velveteen Rabbit in a performing book series. This series brings stories to life by professional artists, exposing kids to the performing arts through something as simple as children’s books. The recommended age for the event is 4 through 10.
The event will take place on Sunday, December 15 between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. at the LA Public Library located at 630 West Fifth St. in Los Angeles. Admission is free and no reservations are required. 
Parking is available at 524 S. Flower St. Garage for $1 with a library card and validation.

Music Center Holiday Sing-Along
Song sheets are provided for this event- taking place on Friday, December 21st-  that is sure to get you in the festive mood by singing along to favorite holiday tunes. Everyone is invited to sing, dance, play music and tell stories.
Going from 6:30-8 p.m., it takes place at the Music Center Plaza located at 135 N. Grand Ave. in downtown Los Angeles. Admission is free. For more information, call (213) 972-3660 or visit www.musiccenter.org.

Self-Guided Audio Tours
This 45-minute tour allows you to explore the Walt Disney Concert Hall and takes you through the project’s history. The audio tour is narrated by Emmy and Tony Award winning actor John Lithgow and also gives you insight from some of those most associated with the Concert Hall.

Public Guided Tours
The guided tour takes you through the gardens, as well as the interior of the Walt Disney Concert Hall, allowing you to explore the highlights of the building.

THE URBAN GARDEN TOUR

Taking place outdoors, this 30-minute tour explores the nearly 1-acre garden of the Walt Disney Concert Hall, where you can view the gorgeous and blooming trees, the rose-shaped fountain and much more.

THE SYMPHONIAN MUSIC CENTER TOUR

This 60-75 minute tour allows you to explore all four of Music Center venues, witnessing the architectural highlights as well as receiving an overview of the Music Center and its Resident Companies. This only includes the lobby level of the Walt Disney Concert Hall.

Available on a first-come, first-served basis, this tour takes place Tuesdays-Fridays from 10 a.m.- 1:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the Music Center Plaza located at 135 N. Grand Ave. in downtown L.A. Admission is free.

MUSIC CENTER’S LIBRARY OF CONGRESS/IRA GERSHWIN GALLERY IN WALT DISNEY CONCERT HALL:  GERRY MULLIGAN EXHIBIT
This exhibit celebrates the life of the late musician, Gerry Mulligan, and showcases many items, including Mulligan’s own gold-plated saxophone. An extraordinary jazz artist, Mulligan recorded and collaborated with many renowned musicians throughout his career.
