Lt. Governor Jay Dardenne hosted the ninth annual Only In Louisiana brunch at the Conga Room in Los Angeles. The brunch was held to celebrate Louisiana’s the rich culinary and musical heritage in honor of Louisiana’s own 19 Grammy nominees for the 57th Annual GRAMMY Awards.

Attendees relished in the special menu of Louisana cuisine, prepared by renowned Louisana Chef John Besh and Chef Wolfgang Puck. Guests from the entertainment industry and others also enjoyed musical performances by GRAMMY-nominated artists Ledisi, Magnolia Sisters, Jo-El Sonnier and Bonsoir, Catin.

2015 GRAMMY nominees from Louisiana include Ledisi, Hunter Hayes, Tim McGraw, Brian Blade & the Fellowship Band, Jesse Winchester, Bobby Rush, Magnolia Sisters, Jo-El Sonnier and Bonsoir, Catin. Famed blues guitarist Buddy Guy received a Lifetime Achievement Award for his song “Tell It Like It Is,” which will be inducted into the GRAMMY Hall Of Fame and made famous by New Orleans native Aaron Neville.

“Louisiana’s rich culture is unlike any other state in the nation and our music and food are the real highlights,” Lt. Governor Dardenne said. “This event is a perfect opportunity to give folks a taste of Louisiana while honoring some of our top musicians.”

The GRAMMYs have long been honoring Louisiania’s significant contribution to the nation’s musical landscape.
“In the GRAMMY Awards’ 57 years, there have only been two years in which a Louisiana artist hasn’t been nominated for an award, a real accomplishment for a state our size,” Lt. Governor Dardenne said. “In addition to being the birthplace of jazz, we are home to the best zydeco, swamp pop, blues and Cajun musicians in the world.”
