Los Angeles singer-songwriter-instrumentalist-producer Venus has finally unveiled her long-awaited EP, Things Change. Just released on October 11, this five-track collection showcases a unique blend of indie and alt-pop. Each song offers an intimate reflection on the passage of time, personal growth, and the inevitable changes we all face. Every aspect of Things Change is particularly compelling, as Venus composed every aspect of the EP herself, from songwriting and recording to mastering, making this project an entirely self-made work of art.
Available now on all digital platforms, Things Change opens with the titular track, a song that’s already garnered attention from tastemakers like Los Angeles KCRW, who highlighted it as a “Today’s Top Tune.” Ones to Watch also praised it, writing: “It’s difficult not to be transported by the beauty of the song… The luscious vocals and calming tempo create an ethereal vibe check that feels like you are in the presence of a goddess.” Such glowing praise has quickly made Things Change a must-listen for fans of lush, evocative music. Sweety High also sings her praises. The previously released standalone single “If (This is Love)” had Sweety High raving “…with just one track, her dreamy and evocative vocals have us completely transfixed…we cannot wait to hear what else it has to offer.”

The EP is a deeply personal journey, with Venus channeling her experiences into songs that explore self-discovery, emotional struggles, and finding peace amidst the chaos of life. Take “OMFG,” for example, which delves into the internal tug-of-war between your true self and your darker, shadow side—the part of you that holds onto insecurities, bad habits, and vices. “Time To Go!” brings a softer indie folk feel, written as a comforting anthem for those moments when it’s clear that something—be it a place, a person, or a situation—no longer serves you. Venus’ vocals shine here, offering reassurance that when it’s time to move on, it’s best to listen to that inner voice telling you to let go.
“Odds and Ends” rounds out the EP, delivering a poignant reminder that while moving forward can be painful, the memories of the past will always linger. The track beautifully captures the bittersweet essence of looking back while knowing that time can’t be reversed, only embraced. Each song on Things Change weaves together Venus’ introspective storytelling with her knack for creating calming yet thought-provoking soundscapes, making it an ideal soundtrack for those reflective moments in life.
Adding to the EP’s charm is the previously released single “Run Away,” which has already won over fans with its dreamy, hypnotic vibe. The standalone track “If (This is Love)” had similar success, with Sweety High raving, “with just one track, her dreamy and evocative vocals have us completely transfixed.”
For Venus, Things Change marks the beginning of a new chapter in her career. After years of refining her sound and releasing a collaborative EP with her group Ahmore—which earned recognition from Uproxx as “Best New R&B”—she has now fully embraced her own artistic voice. With this EP, Venus taps into a broad array of musical influences, blending indie, alternative, pop, and new wave to create a sound that feels both familiar and fresh.
What sets Venus apart is not only her ability to craft her own songs but also her knack for reinterpreting others. Her cover of Billie Eilish’s “Birds of a Feather” recently went viral on TikTok, amassing over 235k views and countless requests for a full version. In response to the outpouring of love, Venus released the full cover, now available on Spotify and SoundCloud, proving once again that she’s an artist who knows how to connect with her audience.
With early praise from KCRW, Ones to Watch, and Sweety High, Venus is quickly becoming a standout in the indie pop scene. As she continues to carve her own path, Things Change feels like both a reflection of her journey so far and a glimpse of what’s to come. Venus sums it up best herself: “Cheers to flowing with time, change, and everything in between. Hope this helps.”
