In the heart of Pasadena, a transformative collaboration between Pasadena Humane and the Los Angeles College of Music (LACM) is poised to rewrite the notes of tradition at the 2024 Rose Parade. For the first time in two decades, Pasadena Humane, supported by Hill’s Pet Nutrition, will be gracing the revered event with a 55-foot float, embodying the theme “Celebrating a World of Music: The Universal Language.”

Ella Beyer, a 20-year-old student at LACM, emerged as the maestro behind an original composition titled “Feed the Love.” Her melodic creation, touching on the themes of pet adoption, the profound human-animal bond, and the sheer joy pets infuse into our lives, captured the essence of this collaboration.

“Music possesses an extraordinary power—a universal language that unites us all,” Ella expressed. “It’s a bridge that transcends boundaries, and our pets, they’re not just companions, they’re family. I aimed to create a melody that resonates with the hearts of everyone, urging them to stand behind the cause of animal welfare.”

This collaborative symphony extends to the very fabric of Pasadena Humane’s presence at the Rose Parade. Ella’s composition, “Feed the Love,” will soar alongside the organization’s awe-inspiring float of the same name. It’s a stage set to showcase not just the celebration of music but also the celebration of compassion, as Dia DuVernet, president and CEO of Pasadena Humane, extends a heartfelt invitation to audiences worldwide.

DuVernet, accompanied by her beloved adopted dog Sueshi, will stand amidst a chorus of wagging tails and devoted volunteers from Pasadena Humane, including the stalwart support of Hill’s Pet Nutrition. It’s a moment that encapsulates the essence of community, compassion, and a dedication to the welfare of our furry companions.

This collaborative masterpiece, however, extends beyond the grandeur of the parade. It’s a call to action—a beckoning for individuals worldwide to embrace the cause of animal adoption, fostering, volunteering, or extending a helping hand to shelters in need.
