You can also do a fruit and vegetable juice fast.

If you’ve been eating fast food, processed foods, or junk foods for awhile, it would be wise to work up to a juice-only fast by eating organic, non-GMO fruits, vegetables and lean protein for a week or two, to clean out your body.  Wheat grass, or chlorella is excellent to remove toxic metals. You can also use liver cleanses, bowel cleanses, and overall body cleanses.  Then, you start gradually, replacing one meal a day with only juice, and so on. This way, your body will be prepared for a juice-only cleanse, and you will get the most out of it.

When a person has a lot of toxins in their body, which everyone today does, going on a water fast or juice fast suddenly can release too many toxins too quickly and make your body feel sick. That is why it is important to approach a juice fast in a healthful manner to ensure that it is safe and effective.

Here are some tips on how to fast on fruit and vegetable juices in a healthful way:

Choose High-Quality Fruits and Vegetables

The quality of the fruits and vegetables you use for your juice fast is crucial to its success. It is important to choose organic, non-GMO produce that is free from pesticides, herbicides, and other harmful chemicals. Fresh, locally grown produce is also recommended, as it will be more nutrient-dense and have a higher water content. If you want to purchase pre-pressed juice, be sure to get cold-pressed as well.

Mix Up Your Juices

It is important to consume a variety of fruits and vegetables during your juice fast to ensure that your body is getting a wide range of nutrients. Mixing up your juices can also help prevent boredom and keep you motivated to stick to your fast. Some great fruits and vegetables to include in your juices include leafy greens, carrots, beets, apples, lemons, and ginger.

Drink Plenty of Water

During a juice fast, it is important to drink plenty of water to help flush out toxins and keep your body hydrated. Aim to drink at least 8-10 glasses of water per day, in addition to your juices.

Start Slowly

If you are new to juice fasting, it is important to start slowly and gradually build up your intake of juices. Begin by replacing one meal a day with a juice and gradually increase to two or three meals per day. This will help your body adjust to the change in diet and prevent any negative side effects.

Monitor Your Symptoms

During a juice fast, it is common to experience some detox symptoms, such as headaches, fatigue, and nausea. However, if you experience any severe symptoms, such as dizziness, vomiting, or diarrhea, it is important to stop the fast immediately and seek medical attention. It is also important to monitor your weight and blood sugar levels during the fast to ensure that they remain within a healthy range.

Break Your Fast Gradually

When your juice fast is complete, it is important to break your fast gradually to avoid shocking your system. Start by introducing light, easily digestible foods, such as soup, salad, or steamed vegetables. Gradually reintroduce other foods over a period of several days, while monitoring your body’s reaction to each new food.

Consult with a Healthcare Professional

Before starting a juice fast, it is important to consult with a healthcare professional, especially if you have any underlying health conditions or are taking any medications. A healthcare professional can help you determine if a juice fast is right for you and provide guidance on how to do it safely and effectively.
