We wanted to find out more, and had a few questions for Romie:

LA’s The Place: What inspired you to pursue a career in coaching boxing and fitness, and why did you choose Los Angeles as your base?

Romie Dalal: Having been a part of the sport for over a decade, I decided to combine my passion for teaching to help spread awareness of the benefits of boxing! Being from London, Los Angeles seemed so vibrant and energetic. I thought this would be a great place to start my journey.

LATP: How do you help your clients reach their fitness goals while also empowering them to defend themselves through the art of boxing.

RD: Incorporating boxing into people’s routines is great because it is a great way to reach your fitness goals as well as reduce stress and build confidence as you learn to defend yourself. It is a full-body workout that combines strength, cardiovascular endurance, agility, and coordination.

Some of the ways I help clients reach their goals is through high intensity exercise like skipping, running, and hitting the heavy bag. Having consistent boxing workouts can improve cardiovascular endurance, leading to better overall fitness and endurance in other areas of life.

LATP: What challenges have you faced during your career in boxing, and how have you overcome them?

RD: Boxing is mentally tough. You will often hear that it is 80% mental and 20% physical. My biggest challenge was learning to control my emotions and learning to be comfortable being uncomfortable. With coaching my biggest challenge was learning to adapt to people as individuals. It is important to be able to differentiate your teaching as people learn in different ways.

LATP: Can you tell us about your training regimen and how it has helped you achieve success in the ring?

RD: One of the key things I would say was not burning out after every session. Having a good understanding of when sessions should be more laid back and technical and when they should be more high intensity. Running was a big part of my training, as well as lots of shadowboxing, technical partner drills and bag work. Focusing on the simple things so you can build a solid foundation.

LATP: What are your long-term goals for Romie Boxing LLC, and how do you plan to achieve them?

RD: I am starting to create a boxing program for everyone! I want to spread awareness of the benefits of boxing, to men, women and children. This will be an online course that people will be able to access.

LATP:How do you help individuals build a strong mindset that can be applied to all aspects of life?

RD: I am a big believer in a strong mindset, all the feelings we feel in boxing are very real. The feelings of sacrifice, fear, nerves, happiness, respect. These can be translated directly into real life situations, with work, family, how we treat others, and how disciplined we are.

LATP: What advice would you give to someone who is just starting out in boxing or looking to improve their skills?

RD: Focus on the basics, it’s not about trying to be the fastest or focusing on how hard you can hit. Be consistent and take it slow, absorb as much knowledge as you can. Everything starts with footwork, make sure you get your foundation right first!

LATP: Can you tell us more about your vision for your future gym and the community you hope to build there?

RD: I would love to build a gym that caters to content creators like myself as well as the general public. I want great lighting, sound quality and great music. I want to build an empowering community that really promotes health and respecting one another.

LATP: How do you balance your career as a coach with your personal life and interests outside of boxing?

RD: Balance? What’s that? Haha, for me everything revolves around my job because I want it to. I am extremely passionate about boxing and learning the craft. When I do feel a little burnt out I will take some time to just rest at home or go to the sauna. Video games are also a great stress reliever for me.

LATP: What sets Romie Boxing LLC apart from other boxing and fitness coaching services, and why should people choose to work with you?

RD: I think the biggest reason people should want to work with me is because I do this for the love of the sport. I am never content with what I know, I am always looking to learn more each and every day. I also know that people are unique and they all have their own ways of learning. It is my job to unpack that and figure out the best possible ways for them to learn while they still have a great time!

Romie’s philosophy is that where you are in five years is determined by what you do today. He wants to help people build a strong mindset that drives them to become one percent better every day. His vast knowledge and experience make him the perfect choice for anyone looking to take their boxing skills to the next level or learn how to defend themselves.
