If you and your family are planning an outdoorsy vacation, the Rocky Mountains are one of the best destinations to choose. Plus, the vast range of activities to choose from makes them suitable for families with kids of any age. Here are three ways to explore the Rocky Mountains on your trip.

Go for a Hike

Rocky Mountain National Park boasts some of the most beautiful views. If you want to go exploring, you can’t go wrong with choosing a few trails to hike. There are trails of all difficulties available, from easy to hard.

Bear Lake Loop and Alberta Falls are great options for families with young children, as they are both short, easy hikes. Families with teenagers who are up for a longer hike might enjoy the Sky Pond or Timberline Falls trails.

Take a Jog

There’s nothing like going for a jog surrounded by beautiful scenery and refreshing weather. Run one of the shorter trails in Rocky Mountain National Park, or if your accommodations are in a nice area, simply go for a run down the sidewalk.

This is a great way to enjoy the early morning quiet and take a few moments for yourself while on a family vacation. Or if you have an athletically inclined kiddo, bring them along for some quality time enjoying the beautiful area.

Drive Around

The Rocky Mountains have some of the most stunning scenic drives in the country. You definitely won’t want to miss Trail Ridge Road—it’s a nationally designated All-American Road for a reason.

There are also some great places to go off-roading if you’re into more extreme outdoor sports. Look into renting a Jeep, as a Jeep is one of the best ways to explore the Rockies because it can handle winding roads and all kinds of terrain.

These three ways to explore the Rocky Mountains are great options for all families. No matter which activities you choose, you’re sure to have a blast!
