World Gym International, a Los Angeles-based gym, launched a strength-only gym model dubbed World Gym Legacy on July 27, according to the Club Industry. The World Gym Legacy is a unique model designed to meet the growing demands of consumers while utilizing a small space to increase efficiency and maximize resources. The idea of introducing a strength-only fitness center originated from trends that COO of World Gym International Jarrod Saracco and his team saw in the fitness industry and on social media.

Over the past two years, people have discovered new at-home workouts, thus increasing the demand for equipment needed for at-home boxing training and other activities. According to Saracco, “There has also been increasing interest and focus on strength training.” As a result, people want ample space where they can engage in serious strength training. With consumer needs changing every day, we can expect new trends to emerge. Below are LA’s top fitness trends you should know.

Hybrid Gym Memberships

At the height of the global health crisis, when going to the gym in person was impossible, people explored virtual or online workouts. This shift in consumer habits has fitness centers offering hybrid gym services. Establishing a hybrid gym business is key to meeting the needs of individuals who want to exercise in the gym two to four days a week and workout at home as well. Typically, hybrid fitness centers provide consumers with the opportunity to workout virtually and onsite whenever they want, hence creating a level of convenience.

A Surge in Strength Training

In 2019, ClassPass, a fitness subscription service, reported that strength training was gaining popularity among gym goers in Los Angeles. Strength or resistance training offers many health benefits, such as improved heart health, reduced risk of injury, increased strength, and it helps you burn calories faster. Moreover, you don’t have to spend hours in the gym doing strength training. You can achieve long-term results performing resistance workouts like squats, push-ups, planks, and lunges at the comfort of your home.

You only need to invest in strength equipment, like dumbbells, barbells, weight machines, strength workout or exercise bands, and medicine balls. Note that each weight training equipment has its own benefits and limitations, so weigh your options carefully depending on your fitness goals. For instance, you can use elastic or workout bands to replace heavy gym equipment and enjoy a variety of exercises. The flexibility of exercise bands supports mobile fitness, meaning you can perform resistance training anywhere.

More and more fitness centers in LA are moving outdoors to meet the needs of consumers who want to connect with nature while exercising. The beauty of exercising outdoors is that there’s no limit to what you can do. You can enjoy Pilates on rooftop parking lots or try new yoga poses on urban green spaces. You can also engage in resistance training or low-impact workouts on the beach. Other outdoor activities like cycling, running, and hiking are also gaining popularity among fitness enthusiasts.

Los Angeles has a reputation for being a fitness haven. After all, its residents, both old and young, prioritize workouts and are always eager to try new fitness trends. Currently, LA fitness enthusiasts have a growing interest in strength training, outdoor workouts, and hybrid gym memberships.
