Hosting a wedding anywhere requires commitment, patience, and a keen eye for beautiful things. Weddings also involve lots of planning and inherently a bit of stress. And backyard weddings are certainly no exception to these rules, either. That’s why we’ve decided to share some simple and practical tips for planning the perfect backyard wedding. This way, you can focus on the big picture instead of sweating the small stuff.

Prepare for the Weather

Because you’re hosting your leap into matrimony outdoors, it’s a good idea to prepare for a sudden change in the weather. To illustrate, perhaps you live in a region that’s prone to scattered thunderstorms. If so, you might consider renting a couple of weatherproof tents to create temporary shelters for the ceremony and reception. Just be sure to ask your tent supplier a few questions about special features like pitched roofs or closeable walls. Doing this will allow you to continue the festivities as planned without worrying about a bit of rain ruining your wedding.

Get Your Home and Yard in Shape

An obvious tip for planning the perfect backyard wedding is ensuring that your home and yard are in good enough shape to accommodate the event. It isn’t enough to just mow the lawn, either. You’ll need to trim your trees back, do a bit of landscaping in the flower beds, and make sure that the exterior features of your home are neat and clean, too. Further, because you’re hosting the celebrations in your backyard, guests will likely be in and out of your house.

So, in addition to keeping outdoor areas well-kept, the inside of your home also needs to be clean. Plus, it’s wise to ensure that the house has all the necessary amenities for you and your guests. For instance, having plenty of hand soap and paper towels in your guest bathrooms would be beneficial. In any case, preparing your home—inside and out—to adequately accommodate your guests is a surefire way to keep the celebration running smoothly.

Set the Mood With Décor and Lighting

No wedding would be complete without décor and lighting options to set the perfect mood for the event. This is where having those tents and a clean home exterior comes in handy. Why? Because these features give you more space for the lighting and décor that will make the celebrations genuinely memorable. Start with hanging string lights from your patio or deck. Or arrange them along the back of your house to create an ambient cocktail area.

Use the rental tents to set up larger light fixtures to create a focal point for the reception. Better yet, use the sheltered areas under the tents to showcase gorgeous floral arrangements and other décor. Lastly, use simple garden lights to create safe, visible pathways from one location to another. However you decide to do it, decorating and lighting your backyard wedding the way you like will ensure that you and your guests can celebrate in style!
