There are several different types of licenses one can get for flying. The big difference between each license is the time it takes to get it and the privileges one has once they do. Here is the difference between commercial and private pilot training.

Private Pilot Training

A private pilot license is the most popular type you can get. It allows unrestricted flying in comparison to recreational or sports pilot licenses but also has a higher requirement for flying time and training. Some of the benefits include being able to fly at night and at controlled airports. It also means flying any aircraft in the category a pilot has been cleared for, as long as they meet the other requirements. Now, a private pilot license doesn’t give them the right to fly anything commercially and they don’t have the right to collect payment for any flying they do. To receive this license, you must complete at least 40 hours of flying. 20 of those hours has to be with an instructor.

Commercial Pilot Training

This kind of training is for people who wish to work for a commercial airline and make a career as a pilot. It’s completely necessary if you want to work as an airline pilot as all commercial airlines now require this license to hire someone. The requirements for such a license are intense; anyone looking to get the certification needs to go through flight school. The basic requirements to get a commercial license is to be 23 years old and to fly 1,500 hours. There’s a restricted license, but you’re is only eligible for that after graduating from specific flight schools or being a military pilot.

The difference between commercial and private pilot training is huge, as you can see. However, the time can be worth it. There’s no reason you can’t become a private pilot as you work your way up to being a commercial pilot. A flight instructor license can help you work on your hours. So, don’t give up and you can become a commercial pilot.
