The coronavirus pandemic was never going to go away that easily. Just as we thought the self-isolation measures were easing and on course to being a thing of the past, suddenly the disease is firing on all cylinders again. Quite rightly, this means that the lockdown is set to continue and in certain parts of the world become much stricter.

You may not feel mentally prepared for the prospect of yet more self-isolation and you’re no doubt feeling somewhat anxious about what the future might hold. Fear not, however, as there are things that you can do to manage your fears and worries.

Here are three things that you should do if you feel your anxiety levels spike at any point throughout the next stage of the global lockdown:

Make use of CBD

CBD oil has recently shown great promise as a preventer of anxiety. Recent research conducted on the correlation between Cannabidiol and generalized anxiety disorder (GAD)  (a study in which 57 men received CBD before undergoing a public speaking assessment) showed that the vast majority of the participants didn’t feel anxious, nervous, or worried while they were on stage. So if you’ve already tried every other anxiety-reducing technique/medication out there to not avail, CBD might very well be the missing piece in your jigsaw.

Before you go ahead and make use of a Cannabidiol product in your attempt to cope with your lockdown anxiety, however, it’s essential that you know what you’re letting yourself in for. Here are some of the most common CBD side effects that you should be aware of:

  • Dry mouth
  • Dizziness
  • Changes in appetite
  • Fatigue

Stick to a normal routine

You might be living in the ‘new norm,’ but that doesn’t mean that you can’t stick to some semblance of a structured schedule. Once you get yourself into a routine, you’ll be less likely to fall into a lethargic and lazy lifestyle, which in turn will help you to tackle your problems in a much more productive manner. So stop lounging around in your pajamas and get yourself organized!

Avoid obsessing over COVID-19 coverage

The more you obsess over the devastation that the coronavirus has caused, the more likely you will be to feel distressed by the situation. These upsetting feelings will only compound your worries for the future and, in turn, cause your anxiety levels to spike.

If you’re serious about coping with your lockdown anxiety in the most efficient and effective way possible, you should avoid obsessing over COVID-19 coverage. No, this doesn’t mean that you should ignore the situation entirely or pretend that it’s not happening. This simply means that you shouldn’t let the news scare you into thinking that everything is going to go wrong. A lot of people have had their lives cut devastatingly short by this disease… but that doesn’t necessarily mean that you are going to suffer the same fate. If you follow your government’s advice, take precautions and stay safe, you will stand a good chance at being able to step out of these dark times feeling stronger than ever before.
