Everyone wants to live for as long as possible. However, one of the largest contributors to a shortened life expectancy can come from not maintaining a healthy weight.

Weight loss is becoming increasingly important in America as new studies show that obesity is becoming one of the highest contributing factors to preventable death. Unfortunately, lacking a healthy weight loss plan and being unable to maintain a healthy weight can lead to a wide variety of health problems, including:

Even certain cancers have been linked to obesity. All of these diseases are gaining more and more attention as one-third of the American population is now considered to be obese.

If you are someone who has been on a weight-loss routine, being stuck at home could stunt the progress you had been making. Feelings of anxiety, fear, and a lack of control over the coronavirus are totally natural. However, it is important to use this extra time that you are at home to continue your weight loss program.

  1. Go On A Walk

While this may seem like a simple suggestion, taking a walk has become even more important at a time when so many of us are spending additional time indoors. Be safe as you take a walk through and follow the guidelines for your area.

 For weight loss, experts recommend that humans get 10,000 steps a day. Walking provides the perfect opportunity to listen to the latest album, audiobook, or podcast that you’ve been meaning to check out (but have been maybe putting off until now). If you’re also feeling extremely lonely at the moment, consider adopting a dog from a shelter to have a walking partner.

  1. Be Careful On What You Buy At The Store

With spending excessive amounts of time at home, it’s all too easy to make multiple trips to the kitchen. However, if there is endless amounts of junk food waiting for you once you reach it, then your weight loss program could be shot.

Try to resist the urge to stock up on junk foods while you’re at the store, so you don’t have an option but to eat something healthier while at home. Some doctors recommend eating 90% of what is considered healthy and 10% of what would be considered unhealthy (they realize that none of us are perfect!)

  1. Find A New Youtube Video Or Instagram Influencer

Everyone who is trying to lose weight is at a different point. WIth the amount of variety on Youtube and Instagram, find someone who is publishing exercises that you like, could do at home, and fit with your body’s capabilities.

Even if you spend a couple minutes a day moving around your kitchen while you wait for your meal to cook or if you walk around your living room during commercials, you will begin to see a difference in your weight loss goals
