There was a special guest we had the honor of meeting at the GBK lounge. The Make-A-Wish nonprofit org, founded April 29, 1980 by Frank Shankwitz, a motorcycle cop who was in a near-fatal crash. During his rehabilitation, he spent time with a terminally ill little boy who’s dying wish was to be a Highway Patrol Officer. His involvement with the boy let to many positive life changes, which inspired him to pay it forward and Make A Wish Foundation was born. Make a Wish creates life-changing wishes for children with a critical illness who have reached the age of 2½ and are younger than 18 at the time of referral.
