Lady Gaga is no stranger to a full face of makeup. Over the years, fans have watched her transform into countless characters, both on stage and, more recently, on the silver screen. As a makeup connoisseur of sorts, it only makes sense that she would create her own makeup line.

The pop star officially launched her makeup brand Haus Laboratories on Amazon this September.

Featuring vegan and cruelty-free options, this new line of eye and lip makeup appeals to just about any clean living beauty fan. Now, more than ever, makeup wearers are concerned about the ingredients in their makeup. It’s not uncommon for some low-quality brands to cause allergic reactions or skin issues.

It’s estimated that the average woman spends about $144 per year on beauty products alone and Gaga knows that; that’s why her six current collections include a lip gloss, lip liner, and shimmer powder for only $49. Consumers can also choose to purchase her eyeliner options, dubbed Eye-Lie-Ner and Eye Armor.

The star has also followed a similar path as singer/actress Rihanna. The number of female CEOs in Fortune 500 companies topped 5% for the first time in 2017, but beauty brands might have something to say about this. The world loved Fenty’s emphasis on inclusivity and Gaga has always focused on this topic in her music. As such, Gaga wants the world to know that anyone can wear her gorgeous shades.

“I found the superhero within me by looking in the mirror and seeing who I wanted to be,” claims Lady Gaga. “Sometimes, beauty doesn’t come naturally from within. But I’m so grateful that makeup inspired a bravery in me I didn’t know I had. I’ve come to accept that I discovered my beauty by having the ability to invent myself and transform. They said I was weird, but really, I was just born this way.”

Just like up to 80% of women claim that their hairstyle can influence their confidence, so can makeup. As a form of artful self-expression, Gaga is encouraging everyone to wear makeup to become the best versions of themselves.

So, how does Haus Laboratories stand up against the competition? According to fans at Who What Wear, it’s worth the affordable price point. Here are some of the highlights:

Courtney says, “For my lips, I used the RIP Lip Liner in Drag ($16), and I have to say, this deep mauve hue was super flattering against my brown skin — not at all chalky or ashy.” She also notes that one dab of the eyeshadow had enough pigment to cover her entire eye. She actually had to blend out the dramatic pigment considerably to get an appropriate day-wear look.

Meanwhile, Erin claimed that the formulas were “super-blendable, surprisingly easy and low-maintenance to apply, and boasting fabulous consistency.”

These are just a couple of the earliest reviews found online but there will be more as the brand gets more awareness. So far, no health issues have been linked to using the makeup. It’s estimated that one in 900 people are typically allergic to makeup. While this might not be as common as the one in 15 homes that suffer from radon issues, it’s still a serious concern for makeup fans and producers alike.

But this makeup journey was incredibly important to Gaga and Glamour noted that she was heavily involved with the process. She claims that her makeup line is about liberation. Is an eyeshadow palette enough to set you free?

Now, Lady Gaga’s line is available on both Amazon and her site hauslabs.com. Let us know what you think!
