Being a Tastemaker and Bon-Vivant has it’s benefits, especially if you love Champagne. If you’re like me and love Champagne, which is a single excuse to attend Champagne Brunch let alone any other celebration isn’t a celebration unless you enjoy it with a lovely glass of Bubbly.

If you are a true Champagne lover you will really enjoy this weekend’s Effervescence event which is part of the LA Foodbowl going on through May.

Effervescence is an annual series of events celebrating Champagne and sparkling Wine, bringing together serious Champagne collectors, luxury consumers and adventurous aficionados of bubbles, providing an extraordinary opportunity to taste and learn about the world of champagne and sparkling wine. Participating wineries will experience a unique and intimate opportunity to deepen their connections with an eager audience of Champagne lovers.

This three day festival begins on Friday May 3rd with the Krug Collector Dinner at 71 Above in downtown Los Angeles with a once in a lifetime dinner for Champagne lovers, hosted by Krug Champagne. Winemaker Jerome Jacoillot will share stories and insight into the legendary house of Krug which includes an amazing culinary adventure.

The experience continues on Saturday May 4th with the Grand Champagne Tasting at the Line Hotel in trendy Koreatown, this walk around Grand Champagne Tasting will offer guests the opportunity to taste and converse with the winemakers, owners and brand ambassadors from 30 Champagne houses on Saturday afternoon.

Saturday evening will see the not to be missed Effervescence Gala Dinner hosted by renown female chefs Nancy Silverton, Dominique Crenn, and Suzanne Tracht and pastry chef Dahlia Navarez at Jar restaurant.

Finally the weekend events will conclude at the More Bubbles Brunch on Sunday May 5th. The Popular Brunch melds a walkaround tasting of sparkling wines from Italy, Spain, USA, England, New Zealand, South Africa and more with a sumptuous brunch menu prepared by Chef Nancy Silverton. Guests will experience the diversity of grapes and sparkling wine styles from around the world, amidst the colorful and contemporary indoor and outdoor space of Hedley and Bennett, a woman owned and operated apron factory on the border of the Fashion District in downtown Los Angeles.

The idea of Effervescence was inspired by Olivier Krug, a sixth generation member of the Krug family and director of the Champagne House while visiting Los Angeles and was so impressed with our city’s culinary diversity and thirst for bubbles that he suggested that we hold an event to celebrate both which brings us to the second annual event. That being said the City of Los Angeles will be enjoying a wonderful weekend and extraordinary opportunity to sample some of the best Champagnes and sparkling wines from around the world.
