Shot in Paris, with the magnificent Paris Marriott providing a beautiful scenic background, French Kiss integrates consumer brands and Hollywood. The Marriot understands consumer needs and aims to far exceed them. This short film follows Tyler Ritter’s journey through Paris ranging from the remarkable Champs-Elysees to the Eifel Tower.

The developing trend of creating cool video content to woo young viewers is a great creative direction the market has taken as of late. Rather than the obligatory commercials we feel forced to watch, Marriott offers more like whimsical entertainment that takes your imagination away, just like a great vacation would.

David Beebe, VP of global creative and content marketing, grasps the importance of appealing to “millennial travelers.” This is because they believe advertising and push marketing are becoming burdensome and annoying to individuals. They want to connect with people in a way that isn’t intrusive, and actually adds value to their lives.

In the short film French Kiss, Ethan, played by Tyler Ritter, the son of John Ritter, is a young American man who is a workaholic and is on a business trip in Paris. He loses his laptop as Margaux, a young Parisian woman, played by French model and actress Margot Luciarte, is a secret admirer that utilizes “magic realism” in order to make him pursue her. She leads him on a trip through the city and exposes him to the beauty of Paris.

What is interesting is the movie seems to connect with the consumer with the theme of “stop working so hard; enjoy the beautiful sights around you and experience love.” This integrated with subtle suggestions of Marriott branding in the movie reinforce an underlying gesture to attend the Marriott. Purely brilliant.

“French Kiss” premiered on May 19th on YouTube. Their “multi-platform, all-screens distribution strategy”, includes digital (www.frenchkissfilm.com), a limited theatrical release in select theatres, in Marriott Hotels’ guest rooms, on Marriott.com and to the 50 million Marriott Rewards members.
