In accepting the inaugural award, Swift gave shout outs to her fans, talking about her album listening parties, her interaction with them on Twitter and other social media, and showed her gratitude for their support.
“What you did by going out and investing in music and albums is you are saying that you believe in the same thing that I believe in: that music is valuable and music should be consumed in albums and albums should be consumed as art and appreciated,” she said, no doubt referring to her anti-Spotify agenda.
Taylor opened the show performing “Blank Space,” which currently leads the Billboard Hot 100.
