Dr. Frances McKindsey

Dr. Frances McKindsey brings to the ROX Center more than just her years of education, training, and experience in the field of obstetrics and gynecology. While Dr. McKindsey can display a full menu of degrees, certifications, and affiliations, some of her best qualifications are not as quantifiable, such as her compassion, concern, and trust with her clients. For certain patients, her knowledge paired with her female perspective adds up to the perfect counsel when you’re seeking the best in women’s health care.

Dr. McKindsey is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology, which means she has completed a specifically accredited residency and passed a standardized exam to receive her certificate. This is on top of completing her undergraduate and medical school education, including clinical training. In Dr. McKindsey’s case, her background includes undergraduate studies at UC San Diego, medical school at Howard University, and an a residency at Harbor/UCLA Medical School — all top-notch organizations.

In addition, Dr. McKindsey has been a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists since 2000 and a member of Alpha Omega Alpha from 1993, as well as part of the Los Angeles Ob/Gyn Society. She was the OB/GYN department chair at the Torrance Memorial Medical Center from 2006 to 2008, and she served as the Junior Fellow Vice Chair, then Chair of the Society of Laparoscopic Surgeons ACOG Section 5 from 1994 to 1996.

Her prizes include the Harbor/UCLA Most Outstanding Resident Teaching Award and The American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists Special Excellence in Endoscopic Procedures, both in 1997. She now brings this body of knowledge and 15 years of experience to Rox Center and to her patients.

As a board-certified ob/gyn specialist, Dr. McKindsey sees an expansive range of clients with questions about high-risk obstetrics, menopause, and hysterectomy alternatives. While the diagnosis and treatment will vary from patient to patient, Dr. McKindsey promises to deliver the best OB/GYN techniques and technologies to each guest. Under Dr. McKindsey’s care, a patient can look forward to more options, quicker recovery, and shorter downtime.

Dr. McKindsey’s specialties include the repair of vaginal prolapses in a procedure also known as vaginal rejuvenation. With this painful and sensitive condition, one or more of the organs, tissues, or structures around a woman’s pelvic region can weaken or break, shifting from their usual positions. Symptoms can include discomfort during sexual intercourse, urination, or defecation. In the most advanced cases, the structures may even fall out of the vaginal opening. Vaginal prolapse typically affects women over the age of 40, often following menopause, childbirth, or a hysterectomy.

This delicate procedure requires a particular set of skills, from the biological and surgical know-how to a sensitivity to the patient’s emotional reaction to the news. Dr. McKindsey is a seasoned pro in both regards, and clients are well advised to place their faith in her medical skills and training — in all regards.

In fact, Dr. McKindsey’s surgical skills include several more procedures necessary to women’s health, including hysterectomies, the removal of ovarian cysts (while minimizing the scars), and remedies for urinary incontinence. Patients seeking a solution for menstrual abnormalities without surgery have an option too: essure, which sterilizes and blocks tubes, minus the pain or scarring.

ROX Center is committed to treating women’s medical needs, with open, caring, and competent discussion paired with expert training and intelligence. Dr. Frances McKindsey embodies this combination of skills, smarts, and sensitivity. She is a valuable addition to the Rox Center for staff and patients alike, and her contributions will be gladly welcomed by anyone who respects intelligent medical care.

The surgeons of ROX Center are recognized experts in their specialties who have come together with one common goal: to provide excellence in surgical healthcare.
