Also honored at the event was the beautiful and talented Australian actress, Rose Byrne, who was an Emmy Nominee for her role in “Damages” and who also received nominations for a Golden Globe in both 2008 and 2010. Honored for the“Excellence in Film and Television Award”, Rose Byrne was presented the award by none other than Hollywood legend Glenn Close, which was a thrill for her to receive such an honor.

John Travolta, who we all know for his amazing work in such films as Grease, Saturday Night Fever, and Pulp Fiction was also recognized as a “Goodwill Ambassador for Australia” for his consistent support and generosity for Australia and has attended the G’Day USA event since 2004. His close friend and co-star in Grease, Olivia Newton John presented him this award to a packed out and enthusiastic crowd.

The night was filled with many famous faces who walked the red carpet and shared their love for Australia including Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban, Naomi Watts, Simon Baker, Jackie Weaver and many others. For many, this is a night to mingle with other Australian guests and friends in Los Angeles as a home away from home. Even though a lot of Australian talent have become global icons, they are happy to lend a helping hand to such a great event and to celebrate their love of Australia, for giving them the opportunity to be raised in such a beautiful country and to help launch their careers into the United States with their endless bodies of work in film, television and music.

This is a yearly event, that should not be missed and is a great night to see just how far Australia has come as a country filled with so many talented artists and entrepreneurs that continue to share their talents with the world and open doors for so many others in the industry.

I would like to thank Isabel Bowser for the wonderful photos and Danielle Dorfman for the opportunity to cover this wonderful event!
