“Revision rhinoplasty is a very specialized operation. It’s not the same as getting your nose done the first time; These are patients who have had rhinoplasty or have had some type of fracture repair for their nose, and really, they aren’t happy with the results. They could be unhappy because of problems with their airway, they don’t like the way it looks, things haven’t healed well, or, the results have gotten worse over time.
They come in for revision rhinoplasty because they’re going to need specialized services which include grafting with rib cartilage, ear cartilage, maybe even fascia grafts, which I use very frequently and they need somebody that does this alot. It’s not an operation that you want to go to somebody that’s doing one or two a year; I personally do about 150 revision rhinoplasty surgeries a year and that makes for some experience in dealing with very difficult cases.

In general, the revision rate on revisions is about 15% in my practice. Around the country the revision rate for rhinoplasty is 15% for all comers. So that’s why it’s important to pick someone you can work with because the chances of needing adjustments or little minor procedures to make sure the result is what you want, really, the result is about 15%.”
