Cash for your car

Is this a restaurant or a Hollywood movie set? You may be wondering that yourself when you step into The Roof on Wilshire, Chef Eric Greenspan‘s new restaurant, bar, and lounge atop the Hotel Wilshire. The chic, modern space features a poolside setting, cabanas, a full bar, a fire pit, and Chef Greenspan’s renowned cuisine, all amid a spectacular view of Los Angeles, stretching from the Hollywood Hills to the Miracle Mile. It’s the perfect setting for a refreshing drink and an appetizer or three among old friends or new acquaintances. You never know at this new hotspot.

Welcome to Your New Hangout

The Roof on Wilshire isn’t your average dining establishment or even another watering hole. Chef Greenspan and the rest of the team behind the Foundation Hospitality Group like to think of it as a hangout — you know, your favorite spot to put your feet up, let your hair down, grab a cold one, and drink in the spectacular surroundings. The goal is relaxation and an escape from the worries that occupy your mind back down on the ground floor.

You Know You Want It: The Pancake Lasagne

Of course, the food shines at The Roof on Wilshire, as you’d expect of any destination associated with Eric Greenspan, the culinary mind behind the highly celebrated Foundry on Melrose. The word is already out on brunch at The Roof on Wilshire; try the pancake lasagne, a decadent concoction with sausage, eggs, bacon, cheese, and maple cream. If that isn’t luxurious enough for you, check out the caviar parfait, a mixture of egg custard, lemon crème fraiche, American caviar, and challah toast points, washed down with a bottomless mimosa or berry bellini, made with fresh fruit juice. Traditionalists will appreciate the more classic options on the menu, such as the smoked salmon platter, an egg sandwich or eggs any style, French toast, and strawberry-banana buttermilk pancakes. And if you’re looking for lighter fare, The Roof on Wilshire can cater to you too with a fruit platter, a yogurt parfait, or steel-cut oatmeal.

The Roof on Wilshire in fact serves meals from breakfast to dinner, from light appetizers to filling entrees, accompanied by a carefully curated list of international wines and craft beers, as well as a variety of classic cocktails. The theme is comfort food, made with simple, fresh ingredients and Chef Greenspan’s unique twist. Look no further than the nori nachos or sticky, spicy wings appetizers for examples of this philosophy at work. Available from lunchtime on, The Roof on Wilshire’s extensive selection of salads and sandwiches includes the Wilshire Grilled Cheese, a take on Chef Greenspan’s beloved grilled cheese first seen at the Foundry on Melrose. At dinner, the kitchen serves filling and satisfying favorites such as skirt steak, crispy pork belly, seared albacore tuna, grilled chicken breast, or grilled shrimp, accompanied by a side of kale, macaroni and cheese, fried brussels sprouts, roasted eggplant, baby zucchini, and other seasonal dishes.

Chef Eric Greenspan does Grilled Cheese well. Very well. So much so that he is opening a place focused on all kinds of different grilled cheese sandwiches!

Dessert beckons at The Roof on Wilshire. Round out your meal with an order of chocolate pound cake, the Wilshire sundae (topped with marinated cherries, meringue kisses, and candied nuts), fruit cobbler made with market produce, and apple-cinnamon bread pudding. Your tastes buds will thank you.
