Nuts For Mutts Walk & Dog Show Benefits New Leash on Life, Community Center and Rotary

Nuts for Mutts, the Walk & Dog Show will bring thousands of dog lovers together again this year, to benefit animal rescue New Leash on Life, the Agoura Hills/Calabasas Community Center, and the Calabasas Rotary, on June 26th, at the Agoura Hills/Calabasas Community Center.

Marty Ingels, Shirley Jones and Rip Taylor were the judges last year.

Activities begin at 8:00am (check-in at 7:15am) and will last all day until 5:00pm. There is free parking! Start your morning off right with the Walk, a walk-a-thon which will take you through the gorgeous landscape of Calabasas, followed by the preliminaries of the most talked-about-town dog show.

Nut for Mutts Dog Show will begin it’s preliminary rounds at 9:00am, and hundreds of mutts will work their way through the final rounds in front of celebrity judges throughout the afternoon.

Celebrity judges such as  Brennan Bailey (My Sister’s Keeper), Preston Bailey (Dexter), Michael Bolten (Flipped), Jillian Clare (Miss Behave), Lucy Davis (Married Single Other), Bob DeCastro (Fox 11 News), Brett DelBuono (Miss Behave), Kiko Ellsworth (the Nine Lives of Chloe King), Kam Heskin (The Prince & Me), Mark Johnson (New York Knicks), Shirley Jones and her husband, comedian Marty Ingles (Bruce the Challenge), Keegan-Michael Key (MADtv), supermodel Eugenia Kuzmina, and Rebecca Mader (Lost)  will judge thirty catergories including, “Most Handsome, “Fox 11 Fastest Mutt” “Most Ear-resistable Ears”, “Mystery Mutt” and “Best Kisser”. Other celebrity judges include Timothy V. Murphy (Criminal Minds), Brad Pomerance (CNN HLN Local Edition), Julene Renee (Mars Need Moms), Talulah Riley (Pride and Prejudice), Byron Russell (Utah Jazz), Billy Valentine (jazz volcalist, Boston Legal), Gary Anthony Williams (I Own You), Cedric Yarbrough (Reno 911), and actress-comedienne Debra Wilson (MADtv) will be back to co-emcee with Christian Le Blanc (The Young & The Restless).

Producer Spike Jones, Jr., Nuts for Mutts co-founder Bobby Dorafshar, star of "Bones," Emily Deschanel with Nuts for Mutts co-founder, Kelly Dorafshar. Emily was a judge at last year's Nuts for Mutts Dog Show.

Whether you have a mutt or not, Nuts for Mutts has a little something for everyone. Aside from the Walk and the Dog Show, there will be a super pet adoption, over sixty vendors, and a silent auction which includes items such as a one night stay at the Redbury Hotel in Hollywood, two trips to Africa with the Zulu Nyala Group, pet portraits, golf theater tickets, wine tastings, and more. . There will be a Beer Garden to accompany the delicious array of food offered, as well as all day live music including singer/songwriter Amanda Clark, the Blues Gypsies, the Sting-inspired Ghost in the Machine and Beatles-inspired Beatunes. Also, the Kid’s Corner just added the Glamour on Wheels and Game on Wheelz game trucks plus Peak Adventure Camp crafts, face painting, balloon art and an obstacle course.

Nuts for Mutts – the Walk & Dog Show media sponsors include Fox 11, KCOP TV 13, KABC-AM 790, 95.5 KLOS-FM, 100.3-FM TheSound and BellaDOG Magazine. Event sponsors helping to make this year happen are Big Dogs, City of Calabasas, Corner Bakery, Invisible Fence Brand and Nature’s Balance.

You can purchase your tickets in advance for the 2011 Nuts for Mutts event at www.nutsformutts.org or at the Agoura Hills/Calabasas Community Center for  $8.00 for adults, $2.00 for children 12 and under and $2.00 for dogs. You can also purchase your tickets at the gate for $10 for adults, $5 for kids 12 and under and $5 for dogs.
