The founding member of Gun’s N Roses and Velvet Revolver Duff McKagen has released his third studio album with his band Loaded and the disc is called “The Talking,” on Armoury Records/Eagle Rock Entertainment. Though most widely known as rock’s most premiere bassist McKagen once again takes front and center on lead vocals and guitars along side with Loaded band members Jeff Rouse (bassist) and Mike Squires (Guitar) along with new addition Isaac Carpenter on drums. McKagen has sold over 100 million albums in his career. “The Taking,” is the brand new studio album from Duff McKagen’s Loaded.

This CD totally rocks from top to bottom combining rock, grunge, punk and retro into the mix with stupendous results. There are absolutely no filler songs contained on the disc. Recorded by record producer Terry Date (Soundgarden, Avenged Sevenfold, Slipnot, Pantera) the album follows the band’s 2009 debut “Sick.”  “Terry Date came into the picture at a time when his genius ear helped capture a sonic theme for the record. You can’t underestimate what a guy like TD brings to the table,” says McKagen. “The Taking” is the closest thing to a ‘concept’ record that I have ever been involved with…Pain, loss, triumph and redemption. Life. Bring it,” explains McKagen.

The music contained herein builds on the band’s trademark blend of hard rock with punk edginess that makes them instantly identifiable. The album kicks off with “Lords of Abaddon,” tapping into their sonic sound with a retro feel and a killer guitar solo followed by “Executioner’s Song,” featuring some amazing guitar work with heavy, pounding riffs. “Dead Skin,” shows off McKagen pop sensibilities while “We Win” is classic anthem rock tune. “Indian Summer,” showcases Loaded’s melodic and catchy tunes radio ready while “Wrecking Ball,” and King of the World,” play on grunge infused and punk rock bent. “Cocaine,” tremors with grit and “Follow Me To Hell,” rounds out the rest of the record.

This CD is well thought out and perfectly produced incorporating all elements of retro rock, classic rock, pop rock, punk rock and grunge rock. This album does not disappoint with its flawless production and memorable riffs. The record is high energy octane with melodic overtones. McKagen was recently featured guest on VH1 Classic That Metal Show promoting the new Loaded CD, “The Taking,” giving it an awesome send off. “We Win,” was played at Quest Field, the home of the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks, McKagen’s hometown. It was also heard during the World Series on the MLB Network. The CD is worth the cover price and won’t leave you disappointed.
