Under the Beverly Hills sky at the Montage Hotel’s terrace, Jenny Craig rolled out a party full of holiday spirit to celebrate their annual Surviving the Holidays event.  Guests mingled with Jenny Craig Spokesperson Valerie Bertinelli, who lost 40 pounds on Jenny Craig for over 3 years now, while sipping on low-calorie cocktails and healthy appetizers.

Proof in the Pudding

Jenny Craig had much to celebrate this year as Journal of American Medical Association (JAMA) published the results of a clinical study that revealed Jenny Craig clients lost an average of 10% of their body weight at the one-year mark, and maintained an 8% weight loss at the two-year mark.

Party Without Guilt

Jenny Craig, true to their motto, hosted a party that supported their theory – you CAN have a cocktail and eat at parties without gaining weight during the holiday festivities.  Each of the cocktails served were under 175 calories. Cocktails like the Peppermint Martini, Cosmo Lite and Spiced Rum Punch (with whip cream to boot!) were popular. Because after all, it doesn’t take a naughty or nice list of your favorite foods to survive the holidays – all it takes is some planning and portion control.

Enjoying Life while Losing Weight

Incredibly, Jenny Craig clients, on average, lose 12 pounds during the holidays! And in Valerie Bertinelli’s case, even maintained her weight loss in Italy for 3 weeks while eating all the delicious cuisines. Here are just some of the ingenious tips CEO Patti Larchet of Jenny Craig shared to ‘treat yourself without tipping the scale’: find foods at a party that will really satisfy you and having a small portion of it, take a walk instead of eating to deal with stress, keep focused on the goal of healthy living and do things that help you with this goal, switch out that extra cocktail for a sparkling water, and eat a little before going to a party so you won’t overeat.

Fitness Tips

Jenny Craig’s fitness consultant, Christopher Ross Lane, also taught some great fitness tips to help burn calories while you’re watching TV. For example, doing jumping jacks during commercials, standing and writing your name with one foot in the air, or quick crunches and push ups. They all add up to weight loss.

Sara Rue also shared her words of wisdom to the crowd via satellite and Nicole Sullivan sent a message from the set of her hit CBS show “$#*! My Dad Says”, and guests later relaxed with spa services in the Montage’s beautiful, serene spa.
