Universal Studios Hollywood is gearing up to scare Los Angeles into the Halloween spirit. On Sept. 24, the theme park will open the 2010 “Halloween Horror Nights”, and host the Eyegore Awards Ceremony at 7:30 p.m.
The event commemorates those who specialize in delivering screams through terrifying entertainment.
Horror genre veterans, Eli Roth (“Hostel”), Christopher Lloyd (“Piranha 3D”), Rob Zombie (“House of 1000 Corpses”), Betsy Russell (“Saw”), Sig Haig (“Halloween”), and Corey Feldman (“Lost Boys”) will all host the event.
Additions to the 2010 “Halloween Horror Nights” include film-based mazes, sure to envelope and trap guests inside the world of the darkest movie monsters. Horror blockbusters such as “Friday the 13th,” “A Nightmare on Elm Street,” “Rob Zombie’s A House of 1000 Corpses,” “Saw” and graphic novella “Vampyre: Castle of the Undead” are all included in this year’s petrifying labyrinths.
“Halloween Horror Nights” also features six “Scare Zones,” including “La Llorona” based on an infamous Mexican urban legend. For the younger and more squeamish, a “Bill and Ted’s Excellent Halloween Adventure” attribute is included in the frightfest as well.
Universal Studio’s Hollywood “Halloween Horror Nights” begin at 7:00 p.m., and will run for 17 nights starting Sept. 24 – 25. The event will continue through Halloween on Oct. 1 – 2, 8-9, 15-17, 21-24 and 28-31. Closing hours will vary.
