Craft Los Angeles is helmed by Chef/Owner Tom Colicchio, who
Congratulations are in order for Chef Tom Colicchio, who has most recently won the 2010 James Beard Outstanding Chef Award for Craft New York. As co-host of Bravo’s “Top Chef”, Colicchio burst into the pop culture consciousness just a few years ago, but that doesn’t mean he’s new to the business. Teaching himself to cook at the age of seventeen, this award winning chef began his career in his hometown of New Jersey, but soon found himself working in notable New York restaurants, such as The Quilted Giraffe, Gotham Bar & Grille and Mondrian. While at Mondrian, Tom was voted as one of the Top Ten Best New Chefs in the U.S. by Food & Wine Magazine.
In 1994, Tom and his business partner, Danny Meyer opened Gramercy Tavern in Manhattan, which received three stars from the New York Times. For his cooking at Gramercy Tavern, Tom was nominated three times for the James Beard Best Chef NY Award, which he won in 2000. The following year, Tom opened Craft, which earned three stars from the New York Times and received the James Beard Best New Restaurant Award in 2002. That same year, Tom received the Bon Appetit and the Food Network’s Award for Chef of the Year in their American Food and Entertaining Awards.
